Yes, I am the one and only Dave Doddek in the United States. As far as I know, it may be the whole world. Actually there are very few Doddeks (pronounced doe-deck) in the country. The name first appeared in the US in the late 1800s when my Great Grandfather came to the US. He had a son by the name of Adolph who was my Grand dad. Grand dad met his wife Minnie (not her real name because she hated it and who had also came to the US as a child) and settled down in Central Illinois to raise a family. From Genealogy, these are the only Doddeks that can be found in the country and the original family came from the Southern area of Germany. I don't know how long my moms side of the family has been in the country, but it is long enough that her Aunt was a Cherokee princess. Her dad was of Irish decent. So if you add me up, I am a Vindictive Hell-raising Grouch.
As for myself, I was born in 1965 in the city of Decatur Illinois. I have lived in this area all my life. I graduated from Cerro Gordo High School, home of the Broncos. I have 2 Bachelor degrees in electronics, one in technology from Southern Illinois University and another in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. Currently I work at Caterpillar Inc. as an engineer. Previously I was hired through Automated Analysis Corporation working like I was a Cat employee. I get to work with the Big Mining Trucks. (these are big trucks, 3400HP and gross weight of 1,400,000lbs)
As you can tell from my home page, I am really into cars. My favorite is the Pantera of course. But then I like most all cars. I do all the restoration work on the cars my self. Because my father was a maintenance man all his life, he taught me to work with my hands. I do welding, machining, paint, bodywork, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonary, farming, engines, and the list goes on. My formal training is in the field of electronics which I started to learn in the 7th grade. I still work with my electronic projects, but the cars tend to take priority. I build analog and digital circuits and can program in several computer languages.
I have turned my electronic skills into a profitable business. Not only do I have a full time job, but I have started my own company. My company does two things. For one, I repair specialized electrical equipment such as welding equipment and other electrical tools. I am working this business through a local tool store where they do all the paperwork and I supply the fix-it labor. The other side if my business is building Electronic Fuel Injection controls for Automobiles. (there goes that car thing again) I discovered that cars run so much better with EFI but that most of the after market systems cost too much and are too hard to program. So I decided to design, build and market my own. You can find out more about my EFI system by checking out my companies page for SGD Electronics. And lastly, I am 36, single and looking for a woman who likes cars as much as I do.
