Pepe the Xoloitzcuintli

Pepe is the alpha dog of my dogs. My Xolos have occasional squabbles over the  leadership, but so far Pepe has always been the clear leader. Sweet Lucy (AHT) and Pepe are best friends and like to play with each other. Pepe is very patient with Lucy and lets her steal any toys from him.

Here are two new pictures of my beloved Xolo Pepe. He is now 15+ years old. His hair, what little he has, is getting very gray. In these photos he looks less gray than he actually is. He has an age related problem with his left hip, and he cannot take walks anymore. However, glucosamine supplements from the vet help him a lot, and he can run around the house and in the backyard. He can jump on and off the sofa easily as long as he keeps taking his glucosamine. Pepe's hearing and sight are not as keen as they used to be, and his heart is weakening, but he's managing just fine. He is still very spunky, and he has retained the alpha position among my dogs. Sweet Lucy continues to be his favorite pal, and he's very gentle with her.
