"Elmo's favorite things: Currently has a thing for
squarrels. Watches through the bay window for one to come in the yard, then
pitches a fit to be let out. Still loves squeak toys and rope toys. Can retrieve
anything off of the top of the dryer - recently ate Jesse's (a cocker spaniel)
wooden brush and a pair of plastic coated rose clippers we forgot and laid
up there. Grandma taught him to catch his ball, but won't drop for her. Lives
to annoy Jesse. :o)"
"We picked up Jake last summer (97) from a farm in Michigan. He is very well
tempered and doesn't seem to have some of the negative habits that are
'characteristics' of the breed, although he's exceptionally good at ripping
apart plastic chew toys! This picture is one of his baby pictures."
"Zoe was born in January of 1996. We got her at the age of 4 months from
a couple who lived in a condo and wanted to find her a home with room to
run...and she needs it. Zoe is a monster, but she has a GREAT sense of humor
and keeps us laughing! She loves to eat ear wax, cayenne pepper, and grapes
(and some disgusting things we won't mention). Zoe watches TV: her favorite
show is Wishbone, but she enjoys most nature shows, in general."
"Millie was born in June 1990. We adopted her from the San Diego Humane Society
in June 1994. She's a great watchdog, well-mannered, very playful--yet quite
gentle and affectionate. Millie lives up to her name of rat terrier, and
extends her hunting ability to doves and skunks! She is truly man's (Marc's)
best friend."
"Nipper is the first rat terrier ever awarded the Temperament Tested title
(TT) given by the American Temperament Test Society. She is currently working
in obedience when she isn't chasing tennis balls. Scooter is the queen of
the household, ruling over the bigger dogs 4times her size. Scooter has decided
she doesn't have to do a thing in life except look cute and cuddle well."
"About all I can say regarding TAXI is the deplorable condition she was in
when I got her...just skin & bones, had been living in a cattle barn
with another rat terrier mother and her pups as well as one of TAXI's
littermates. She was obviously the smallest and apparently never got a decent
meal. My daughter bought her for me, with the stipulation I could refuse
her and they'd get their money back. I really had doubts she would LIVE let
alone thrive, but after seeing her spunk and grit playing with Lucky (my
daughter's raterror) who was months older, I knew she would make it. She
would hang on to a sock and growl all the while Lucky dragged her room to
room, never giving up. They are best friends and play like kids yet. Taxi
is going to be a certified therapy dog soon, has a little more obedience
to learn....like down (she has it confused with roll over). The Amish people
who had her had traded with another group in Pa. for those 2 pups. Taxi was
so dirty and smelly, it took many washings to clean her up....ribs all over,
boney little legs....but a sparkle to die for! Biggest dog I've ever seen
in the smallest package."
"This is Jack. Jack recently moved to his new home
in New Jersey. He arrived here on Sept 9, after a 5 hour flight from Florida!!!!
He is a lovable little Rat, who (so far) has trained quite easily, although
we do see a stubborn side.... :) He has brought so much happiness to our
home, although we have only had him for two weeks..:)
He loves to run circles (literally) around the yard, wearing out our two
boys. Jack loves to sit beside us while we are at the computer, and he has
chosen THIS SITE as his favorite :) :)"
