Reviews of HOLD ONTO THE NIGHT, July 2000 , by Shauna Michaels
**** Excellent
Author Shauna Michaels has not written a book with HOLD ONTO THE NIGHT,
she has created a wonderful story a person can fall into and become part
of the book. A reader will share the joy and heartbreak of the people in
the story that go beyond being characters. This is definitely a book that
you will want to curl up with at night to relax and escape the worries and
cares of the day with. This reviewer is definitely looking forward to more
from Ms. Michaels."

"This was so good I read it in one sitting. I enjoy going to exotic places
as they take you out of the ordinary into extraordinary settings that
excite the senses."

"Hold on to the Night is a well written, fast paced novel that takes you
on ride through the minds of the main characters. The scenes are well
described and the characters well fleshed out and believable. The
conflict between Kathleen and the strange man is thought out and
you can literally feel the tension as you read. I usually don't
read these types of stories but this one had me captivated.
In the scale of one to five, I would give this one a four and a half."

"Shauna Michaels shows powerful descriptive skills that bring the rain
forest into living color for the audience. That along with an exciting
romance makes HOLD ONTO THE NIGHT a great tale to read. Kathleen is a
brave, but somewhat foolish person willing to test anything for parental
approval. Guerriro is a mysterious hunk who will capture readers' hearts.
Their forbidden love is hotter than the climate where they met."

"The rich, luxurious setting of the rain forest practically becomes
another character. And the Amazon villagers are marvelously realistic,
neither backward savages we must pity, nor enlightened souls attuned to
the earth that we must emulate. Kathleen's gradual acceptance by and
connection with the villagers forms a powerful counterpoint to her
relationship with her father, and gives her the strength to look forward,
not back. That is a lesson Guerriro also struggles with. A man of
mystery, we slowly come to understand and love him, just as Kathleen does.
Despite the cost, his principles never waver, forcing Kathleen to mature
into someone worthy of his love, and leading to a wonderfully satisfying
surprise ending. A great book for a sultry summer day ... or night."

"I thought this was an interesting twist. A man cursed
by magic, bound to the land he had planned to exploit,
protecting the lives of people he's harmed, until
his penance is paid. In teaching Kathleen a very
important lesson he learns one of his own. It is a
fascinating tale in which Ms. Michaels weaves a
message for us all."

4 1/2 stars: "Ms. Michaels latest novel is even better than the rest. Her
in-depth descriptions bring the rainforest to life, as if you were there.
With characters that are full of depth and emotion, this is not a novel to
be missed."
