It is now possible to buy Argus with a set of terms already loaded in the Lexicon. As of this writing (October 22, 2000), rumor has it that the Lexicon may now be available in four variations:

• empty
• containing Chenall's Revised Nomenclature for Museum Cataloging
• containing the Getty Institute's Art and Architecture Thesaurus
• containing a composite of some Argus clients' Lexicons

As of 1998, the composite Lexicon was made up of three branches:

• A base Lexicon composed of people, subjects, and geographic terms.
• A Taxon branch incorporating taxonomic terms organized under Animalia, Fungi, Monera, Plantae, and Protista,
• Terms originally utilized in Chenhall's Nomenclature for Museum Cataloguing.

As the relationships in this composite Lexicon are not consistent throughout, we can't recommend using it without some initial cleaning. See Taming the Tangled Lexicon?
