): A skeptic of the flood in the days of Noah questions:
): "In the event that the earth's surface was under water;
): 1) where did this mass of water originate from? (don't just say clouds)
): 2) where did all this 'alleged' water go TO after this blessed event?"
First of all, it seems hardly proper to refer to the total destruction of air-breathing life on an entire planet as a "blessed event". Whether you believe this event happened or not, it is obvious that such a thing is not a blessing but a curse that destroyed thousands of unbelieving people including "scientists" and BABIES! a very great tragedy!
Now then, both of these questions seem to be VALID inquiries, so it is hoped that you skeptics will set aside your unbelief and any pre-judice and just examine the record at face value, since both of those questions are PLAINLY answered in the EXACT SCIENTIFIC account of this global disaster, as found in the true word of God, the Holy Bible (Authorized 1611 King James Version:)
"In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights." (Genesis 7:11,12)
That answers where the water came FROM. Notice TWO sources; One BELOW the planet, and the other ABOVE.
"And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered." (Genesis 7:19,20)
The account is CLEAR as to the EXTENT of this flood. The cubit is a unit of measure from Noah's elbow to his fingertip. You can figure a cubit somewhere between 18 and 22 inches, making the water 22.5 to 33 feet ABOVE the highest mountain then. (The earth was "divided" later, in Genesis 10-11, with possibly MORE mountain building due to continental plate shifting. See later messages.)
"All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days." (Genesis 7:22-24)
Again, the account is CLEAR that only those in the ark survived this event. And observe that although the rain lasted 40 days and 40 nights, the waters PREVAILED for 150 days, so let's look further, since the "flood" stayed around more than 40 days:
