Big Sister/Little Sister--The girls on the top row are the big sisters. Their little sisters are on the bottom row in front of them. We revealed their big sisters to them by givivg them clues, and having to find her in the house by the clues. Little did they know that they had to go through 3 sisters and 4 clues before they found out who her real big sister was. Don't worry, for each girls trouble she was rewarded with a gift....and the best big sister ever!

Family Picture--This is how it works: from the bottom up, each girl is the little sister of the girl behind her, except for the first girl. She actually belongs last, but she was too short. So she is really the oldest of all, then the top girl all the way down to the bottom. (I hope I didn't confuse anyone!)

Convention 1997-Deep in the Heart of Texas

The Marrott Convention Center in Houston Texas welcomes us with open arms!

This is all 567 of the girls who attened convention '97. I didn't even try to remember their names!

Our philanthropy is "Choose Children". For convention each girl brought some teddy bears to be donated to children who's houses burned down. These teddy bears are going to be riding on fire trucks and in ambulances. We collected close to 2,000 teddy bears. I hope there is some room left for the rescue and life-support equipment!

These are the girls from the Delta Epsilon chapter who went to convention '97. They are holding up their chapter banner that was made by the chapter members. There was a banner from each Alpha Xi Delta chapter. You can see some other chapter banners behind them. There are about 109 chapters total...that's alot of banners!

This is our chapter at the Rose Banquet. This was a very special night for all of us. We got to see the new National President take the Oath of Office. For entertainment, a group of children sang to us. They were so good that we almost cried. But the best part of the night was when all 567 girls stood in a circle, and sung "The Sisterhood of Women". Many tears were shed!

Here we are hanging out with Betxi Bear!

The Chapter History

The Delta Epsilon chapter at the University of New Orleans was founded in 1958 as the local sorority Delta Epsilon Beta. Early in 1962, the group petitioned Alpha Xi Delta for a charter. At the time, the next Alpha Xi Delta chapter was to be Delta Delta, but Delta Epsilon Beta wanted to become Delta Epsilon chapter. The group was pledged as Delta Epsilon chapter on March 3, 1962 and installed May 12, with Mary Burt Brooks Nash, National President, presiding at the ceremony.

The Delta Epsilon chapter has sence initiated over 600 members. Each girl is unique and diverse in her own way, but as a whole they unite as one happy family. There is a strong bond of sisterhood between us, but most importantly we are friends too. We are there too see each sister through good times and bad, to lend a shoulder to cry on, or an ear for listening. Our bond of sisterhood and friendship is so strong that it last for many years after our college life is over. Without Alpha Xi Delta in our lives we don't know where we would be today.
