Lupinus Texensis, the Texas Bluebonnet, the official state flower. A wise person, me, once said that if there is a prettier flower God saved it for Heaven. Here are some pictures I have collected in various places. To the best of my knowledge and/or recollection these are not copyrighted. If you find that they are please let me know and I will rectify the situation immediately.
These two pictures give an idea of how the Bluebonnet, and its roadside companion the Indian Paintbrush, can spread out in a beautiful carpet. Sometimes this can literally go on for miles.
The picture above not only shows the Texas Bluebonnet in close-up, but also the Indian Paintbrush. The flower below is so perfect it almost looks unreal to me. We like them a lot in Texas.
