Frank Dobson

1886-1963

Born in London, the son of an artist Dobson attended Leyton School of Art from 1900-1902. He was a sculptor, painter and draughtsman. He exhibited with Wyndham-Lewis and was influenced by Aristide Maillol. During the war he was an official war artist and was Professor of Sculpture at the Royal College of Art from 1946-53. Elected RA in 1953 Dobson is represented in many public collections including the Tate Gallery.
