Jon Middlemiss

Born Harrogate 1949

Jon Middlemiss studied Fine Art at Scarborough and Exeter Colleges of Art from 1969-72. He travelled in the Middle East and Europe for a year and then established a small pottery in Exeter producing functional earthenware and stoneware pottery. In 1977 he helped to establish the Chantry School of Art and held a series of workshops and lectures on meditation from 1980-89. In 1980 he moved to Cornwall. He was awarded many prizes in England and abroad in the years from 1992. He was elected on to the Crafts Council Select Index in 1989 and elected a Fellow of the Crafts Potters Association in 1992. His work is in many collections both private and public, particularly in Germany.
