Kwai Kwai Nidobak,
Hello my Friends,
The Native American People of the northeast have lived here since the beginning of time. I have created this page for two reasons. To share some my own Abenaki History and to give people a place to start in searching their own Native American Roots. The people of the Northeast are known as the Wabanaki , or People of the Dawn. They are made up of the Maliseet, Mi'kmaq, Passamaqouddy, Penobscot and Abenaki. The language of the Wabanaki is of the Algonkian dialect. Although it differs from one tribe or nation to the other, it is basically the same.
In the Native American Tradition, the people would gather in circle around the fire to listen to the storyteller know as N'datlogit, "He who carries the Stories". The strength of the stories , passed down from generation to generation, serve to instill cultural values and preserve traditions.
Wlibamkanni, Be Well,
Lou
