What You'll Need
Men's large white T-shirt
Black felt-tipped marker
Ruler
Scissors
Masking tape
Newspaper
Small sponge
Bowl of water
Black tempera paint
What To Do
1. Lay the T-shirt flat with the front side faceup.
2. At each side seam, make a mark 10 inches from the bottom. Cut along the
seam from the bottom to each mark.
3. On the shirt front, find the center point along the bottom. Measure 16
inches from this point, and make a mark on the shirt.
4. Draw a curve from this mark to each side seam mark.
5. Cut the front along the curves. Discard the cutaway section of the shirt.
6. Flip the shirt over and lay it flat with the back faceup.
7. Mark the center of the bottom.
8. Draw a curve from the center mark to each side at the 10-inch mark.
9. Cut the back along the curves.
10. Flip the shirt over and lay it flat with the front faceup.
11. From the center point marked in step 3, measure 1 inch up and make a
mark.
12. From the mark, draw two straight lines, one to each
side of the neck, creating a triangular area.
13. Cover this triangular area completely with masking tape.
14. Cover your work area with newspaper to protect from spills.
15. Put a layer of newspaper inside the shirt under the triangular area.
16. Dampen the sponge with water, dip it into the paint, and gently press
it over the shirt. Let the shirt dry, then turn it over and paint the back.
15. Remove the masking tape, then use the black marker to draw a bow tie.
