The Safe Site Hot List

No doubt the Safe Site designation tag will soon be the most coveted prize on the web. It will adorn recipe pages with less-than-fivers and those sites will be added to the hot list below.

I will test as many individual recipes as possible and translate for the culinarily inept - including any warnings that may be necessary. One can never be too careful. There is no such thing as a truly fool-proof recipe. I will also include reminders like "watch it when you open the sauce packet" considering I usually manage to lose a portion of the contents if I'm not paying attention. I don't trust myself with Minute Rice either unless I read the directions every time.

I also suffer from recipe tamperitus. Basic contrariness accounts for about half of this behavior manifestation - the rest has to do with a deep-seated mistrust of the "experts" trained at the Institute of Ever-Changing Information. Hell, I wouldn't trust my own grandmother unless I watched a process step by step. In any case, it's not an altogether negative affliction. I recently determined that since self-rising flour is really just plain flour with the salt and baking soda (or is that powder?) added, using the former not only eliminates two ingredients but also frees up the brain cells required to store that kind of information. I live for these breakthroughs.

I hope no one takes any changes personally. Those who are picky about such things should know that I won't test every recipe mainly because I'm a picky eater so it's a 50/50 gamble.

Declare your allegiance to the revolution - nominate a site today. That other Martha's reign of terror has gone unchecked for entirely too long.

I may have to add a few rules along the way if things get out of hand although I doubt they will - I'm easy and obsessed. Please remember to include the URL and the exact page to look for.

Thanks to Barbara for providing the old Spam ad. Her toast recipe is a must see. Barbara Rush Tulsa Oklahoma Old Maid

Now go to Family Recipes - look under Hunter family recipes for a bunch of real less-than-fivers. So far, I've tried the Pineapple Bake (even though it's a sixer). It's a keeper, really different and easy. Based on that, the rest should be feasible using the same-tastes theory (as in similar likes between friends - reading material, clothes, etc.) - check out the other lists too.
