MUD

Mud is very nice to feel
All squishy-squash between the toes!
I'd rather wade in wiggly mud
Than smell a yellow rose.

Considering I swore off cooking the day my first mud pie flopped, the implications surrounding the establishment of these pages do boogle the mind. Or, to quote an old boss, "Omigod, Martha Jones on the Internet."
I've been here since summer '97. It took all of 10 minutes to get hooked. This site went up in February '98. I originally appointed myself the voice of sanity for the culinarily inept about 15 years ago after slogging through countless cookbooks and magazines. They were absolutely no more help than any other foreign language I had ever encountered. However, step-by-step, I was getting there. People stopped running for cover whenever they saw me anywhere near the stove and they were asking for seconds.
I started writing and ended up with a little book I gave to friends. The friends wanted copies for their friends and so on. I was having fun with it back then and plan to continue.
The rest of the story: I live in Houston (who knows where next), born in Kansas City, Missouri in November '53 - Scorpio, if you're into it, which explains a lot. It's one of the few categories I fit.
I was married twice. If the first ex ever sees this he'll never believe it's me ... it was a good thing he worked in a restaurant. I will be nice and say only that #2 became confused (drugs).
My only child is Miss Liberty, Dog's Eve View. She's gotten a bit cranky in her old age, especially since I've been spending more time on my pages than hers.
My best friend and main recipe tester (guinea pig) is Mike, who will probably have time to make his own pages if I ever stop pestering him to scan that and html this.
I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up. Several years ago an aptitude test spit out newspaper editor as a possiblity. On that note, I'll close with been there and don't believe everything you read.
