About Me...
I'm 28, married, with a four-year-old daughter. My family and I live on Long Island, an hour's commute from Manhattan. I like to read, listen to music, and watch really bad movies. As anyone who's looked at my bookshelves can tell you, I have a wide variety of interests. The same random shelf holds books on music, Shakespeare, art conservation, paleoanthrolopology, politics, comic books, the Olympics, the Muppets, and a couple of trashy novels. (Okay, so I don't organize my books very well... At least I know where everything is!)

I wrote my first book at age four. Don't think I'm some child prodigy -- it was horrible. Several pieces of newsprint stapled together, handwritten, with flowers and bumblebees drawn all over it. I think it's still in my mother's attic someplace. Point being, from the first time I set pencil to paper, I knew I was going to write for a living.

In the twenty-four years since, I've been published in magazines, newsletters, zines, comic books and websites. I compiled and edited a series of resource guides for sculptors, published by National Sculpture Society. I self-published six chapbooks of poetry and over thirty small-press comic books. A short play I wrote was published in my college literary magazine. I also wrote four novels, only one of which I actually tried to get published (hasn't happened yet, but it will). So as you can see, I'm a little obsessed with the written word. Fortunately, in my line of work, that's a good thing.

My Education...
I graduated from Northgate Junior-Senior High School (Bellevue, PA) in 1988. Next, Monroe County Community College (Monroe, MI), where I landed myself an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and was a Writing Fellow (which basically translates to being an English tutor for all the Ag Sci majors). I didn't finish my bachelor's because I actually got a job at Sculpture Review magazine shortly thereafter, and ran off to NYC to begin what was supposed to be a 15-hour-a-week internship and ended up being an eight-year career in the arts field.

Now...
I'm mostly involved in music and entertainment journalism. I still turn out the occasional comic and write quite a bit of poetry. I'm also continuing to refine novels and considering a screenplay. For my bread and butter, I interview bands, review CDs and live shows, write press releases, ad copy, and anything else that looks interesting. I charge competitively low fees for my work and don't mind working under tough deadlines.

If any of this interests you, e-mail me and let me know what projects I can help you with. I network with other freelancers, so if for some reason I can't do the job, I can usually hook you up with someone who can.
