Who is Brian McBride?

If you are here, you probably already know who Brian is but just in case you don't, Brian is a star forward of the Columbus Crew MLS soccer team as well as an accomplished member of the US National Team. Brian was the Mastercard MVP of the 1998 MLS All-Star game and also scored the 1998 MLS goal of the year. Brian scored the only U.S. goal in the 1998 World Cup in France and he scored 2 goals in the 2002 World Cup in Japan/Korea. Brian is one of the most dangerous scorers in American soccer. He is also a very creative playmaker. If you ask a fan of American soccer who the best header is in North America, they would surely answer Brian McBride. No forward compares to his skills in the air and his footwork and shooting on the ground is also some of the best. This is only a brief explanation of who Brian is.

Why do we like Brian so much?

For one thing, he is an awesome soccer player. He controls the ball so well and skillfully distributes to his teammates. He is also a really nice guy, which anyone who knows him can testify to. Even if you have only met him once, or you have just gotten his autograph, you can tell he is a genuinely nice person. I am always amazed at the amount of time he devotes to his fans. And we can't ignore the fact that Brian is a pretty attractive looking guy. OK, ok, he's brutally (Check out the picture page). So looking at the whole package, what is not to like?

McBride scores 2 in Japan/Korea; Helps U.S. to quarterfinals.

The US made their best showing at the World Cup in recent history in Japan/Korea. Forward Brian McBride helped lead the attack with a goal and an assist against Portugal and a goal against Mexico. The U.S. turned in a fantastic performance and shocked the world by advancing to the quarter finals where they were finally defeated by Germany. Of course devoted American fans were not shocked, only very proud that the U.S. played so well. Thank you to the US Men's National Team and Brian McBride for a thrilling ride.

Want to sound off about how great McBride is?

This used to be a petition of sorts for Steve Sampson to see how many people think McBride is the best forward in the US. But Sampson came around, brought Brian to France and he scored the only America goal. So I guess Steve, and now Bruce Arena agree that Brian is the best.
