There is still something wonderful about digging in the dirt -- whether it's in a garden, a window box, or a flower pot, the smell of turned earth reminds us of something very basic.

My husband Herb, and I live about an hour or so northwest of Philadelphia, very close to the Pennsylvania Amish communities. We're homebodies at heart, and would rather spend a day in our gardens with our dogs, than anywhere else. Of course the cat is always 'under foot' too.
We do, however, enjoy our annual vacations . . . anything having to do with the out of doors is fine with us, even if the accommodations are rustic. Meeting and getting to know some of the 'locals' is always high on our list of things to do.
