The name Gary Burghoff should immediately ring a bell with you and then tie it directly to the character Corporal "Radar" O'Reilly of television M*A*S*H fame and the bell should practically ring off its swivel.

Gary Burghoff is a star of many art forms who has expanded his multi-faceted career to include that of wildlife artist.  While still in high school, and long before his unparalleled acting career began, he won the Hallmark Award for a mixed media painting titled "Men of Jazz".  His love of drawing and painting extends from early childhood and is influenced greatly by his obvious love of nature and its environment.

Gary Burghoff and "Radar" O'Reilly are synonymous with the kind, lovable yet kindred spirits we can all remember with fondness.  The role of "Radar" was tailor-made for Gary because of his obvious love of animals and his extraordinary personality.  Remember Radar's zoo in M*A*S*H?  This theme originated from his real life Animal Rehabilitation Clinic in Southern California where he nurtured and cared for many species of birds such as the brown pelican, and many other animals including opossums, grey squirrels, raccoons and abandoned creatures needing Gary's special and tender-loving care. In fact Gary, once known as the "Bird Man of Malibu", was licensed by the State of California to care for wounded animals.  Even today, Gary continues this personal contact with wildlife which brings us to his inspiration for wildlife art.  For his entire life, he has felt a personal affinity with animals and our environment, perhaps, explaining his unique approach to his paintings.

Utilizing oils primarily, and occasionally some watercolor and mixed media, Gary creates his wonderful originals, many of which remain in his private collection.  His early limited-editions have been produced using the latest technology in color-laser printing.  Gary oversees the entire process ensuring that each piece of his work is up to his unusually high standards.  Some prints even receive his personal enhancing. Burghoff  limited-edition prints have been known to bring as high as $1500.
