BUG IN MS WORD 2002: Sometimes Word 2002 produces an unwanted sigma conversion. The workaround is to disable (uncheck) a specific "autoformat as you type" option: Ordinals (1st) with superscript. You will find this under Tools, AutoCorrect options, "AutoFormat as you type." FONT SUPPORT IN ADOBE: You must make sure the font is included in the embedding options. Go to Distiller, then Settings, Job Options, Fonts, and check Embed all fonts (or embed the needed font individually). FONT SUPPORT IN PDFFACTORY (www.fineprint.com): With the print dialog up, select properties, fonts, and embed the right font (e.g., Palatino Linotype). FONT EMBEDDING IN WORD: This is only necessary to send a file to someone who is not using Windows XP (or Windows 2000): Select Tools, Options, Save, Embed TrueType fonts. You can also do it on a document by document basis under File, SaveAs, Tools, Save Options.
