- The BUCK CREEK JAZZ BAND -

The Buck Creek Jazz Band ( BCJB) is a traditional-style, Dixieland jazz band with headquarters in Springfield Virginia. We try to play our music with emphasis on ensemble and harmony. We tend to lean toward a four-beat feel to our music rather than the two-beat feel that many others use with this sort of instrumentation. The Band Co-leaders are Jim Ritter and Frank Mesich. Most of us live in Virginia or Maryland, except for our Piano player, Bill Richards , who lives in sunny California. We have been playing together 19 years now, with only the Piano chair changing from Rick Cordrey to Bill Richards about 8 years ago.

We have two drummers ( Hey, maybe its a Rock Band ...... Naaaaa ......). Johnny Roulet plays with us mostly on the Road, and Gil Brown plays with us mostly near home. We love the music, have a great time, and ascribe our long happy life together (so far ) to limiting the number of Gigs we accept ...... so we have time for rehearsals and family!
