Here are some pictures of a 351 Cleveland 4V head. Notice the huge intake and exhaust ports size.
Also, the Cleveland heads came with open and closed combustion chambers. The 70-71 4V heads had a quench chamber of 61.3 - 64.3 cc's and the Boss 351 heads had a quench chamber of 64.6 - 67.6 cc's. On the other hand, the Cobra Jet, High Output or H.O., and the 2V heads all had open combustion chambers. The CJ and H.O. heads measured in at 73.9 - 76.9 cc's while the small port 2V heads had a 76.9 - 79.9 cc chamber volume.
As you may be able to see, this particular head is machined for pedistal rocker arms. 351 Cleveland heads came with an adjustable and non-Adjustable valve train. The engines that had the adjustable valve train were the Boss and the H.O. w/ the mechanical cam. The engines without adjustability are the 2V, 4V, CJ, and the H.O. w/ the hydraulic cam.
Anyone with a 351 Cleveland that has a non-adjustable valve train can now easily convert to an adjustable one without expensive and non-reversable machining thanks to Crane cams. They now offer a kit that comes with special guide plates and screw in studs that allows full adjustment of the valve train. Just about anyone can Install this kit its so easy!!!
