The Official Web Site of Texas
Motor Speedway
APRIL 5th AND 6th OF 1998
WE WENT........ WE SAW.......... IT KICKED BUTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My buddy Jason and I attended both races at Texas Motor Speedway April 5th And 6th, in 1998. It was awesome especially when Gordon got run over!!!!!!! The only complaint I have is that the parking SUCKS. Texas Motor Speedway charges you ridiculous amounts of money to watch a race but won't get their security people out in the parking area to direct traffic so you can get out of the track without getting run over. ( LIKE WE DID! ) This, and only this may keep me and my family from going next year or at all to this excellent track. You know, that SUX!!!!!!!!!!
MARCH 27th AND 28th OF 1999
WE GOT TICKETS... WE WENT... GORDON CRASHED AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! HE HE HA HA HO HO!!!!!!!!!
Once again, we went to the Winston Cup and the Busch Series races at Texas Motor Speedway March 27 and 28, 1999. This was my second time to go and the races were great especially when Jeff Gordon crashed in both events. This time, I had front stretch seats instead of the backstretch so I got some good pictures this time. Last year I had a great shot of Gordons car after it was wiped out but in the frenzy of both screaming and the entire place jumping up and down with joy, I screwd it up. This time when he wrecked I got one but we were too far away to get a good picture.
And again, the parking sucked this year. Instead of 190,000 idiots trying to cram out of 4 exits we had 230, 000 screaming idiots trying to get out thanks to the additional temporary stands for the PRIMESTAR 500. Something we learned this year is that the PSL and infield ticket holders get preferential treatment over the rest of the fans and it showed when they were provided right-of-way over us when leaving after the races. As we were leaving the stadium on foot after the Busch race, we were told to halt by the so called "security" people located at the exit of the infield ramp so the infield could clear out while we waited holding our coolers and what not. Last I heard, pedestrians have right of way over automobiles but this was not the case at TMS.
Yes, those are automobile lights for as far as you can see.
Oh yea! There was enough mud in the parking lot we could have built TMS all over again from scratch.
Yea, those lights in the background are automobiles too.
As tired and pissed off as I was from the rain shorted CocaCola 300 Busch race and the frigid cold wet wind I decided I have had enough of the crap that cost me $47.00 a ticket that day and it seemed I was not the only one either. I guess you can say that I led a successful revolt against the oppression called security who decided we should stand in the cold rain while the PSL and infield fans sat comfortly in their warm vehicles waiting in line to leave. After the third vehicle passed by us, I screamed "SCREW THIS, LETS GO!!!!!!" and motioned with my arm up in the air. A herd of 500 or more fans followed my lead hapily agreeing and we pressed on through the road block of 3 security guards who stamped their feet and yelled words that I can't post here. This made me feel much better on an otherwise nasty day.
Ok, the tickets are not as fancy as last years up above. This is what you get if you are not there in person to buy the tickets and for using Ticketmaster. Anyway, its a ticket.
