The amateur Hungarian folk dance group 'Balaton', named after the lake in the centre of Hungary, was founded by Alan McLean in 1968.

Balaton is a small group which demonstrates folk dances from all the regions of Hungary and the Hungarian communities in Transylvania in a variety of sets of costumes. We use recorded music.

It would be useful if those interested in joining the group had some experience of dance, Hungarian if possible.

The cost for attending the Balaton sessions is £3 a night, £35 a term - no charge for the first visit.

Several of the dance group members are also involved organising in the Hungarian Táncház (social dancing) which meets during term time on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.  We currently meet at the pub called St George and the Dragon, 183 High Street, Acton, W3 9DJ  It is best to check before attending this - 020 8441 2959

The cost for attending the Táncház is £3.00, £1.50 concessions - no charge for the first visit.
