Pictured here is the cover of Gilbert's demo tape entitled "A Few Voices of Ed Gilbert." This caricature of him adequately represents Gilbert's normal dress as well as his love for entomology. Often he was pictured wearing his infamous "bug vest."

During the mid 1980's Gilbert transitioned from on camera actor to voice-over artist at the encouragement of his former agent, Arlene Thornton. Later Gilbert left Thornton's agency and joined International Creative Management where he remained until his death.
