The Entomological Work of Edmund F. Giesbert

"Ed began his entomological interests as the result of a chance meeting with a wasp-like insect sitting on a leaf next to the pool at the Wanda Park home (Jayne Mansfield's old house). He photographed it and then brought the photo to Charlie Hogue at the LA Co [Los Angeles County] Museum for identification. It turned out to be a relatively rare longhorned beetle, Necydalis cavipennis, and its close resemblance to a wasp intrigued Ed enough that he wanted to find another."
- Frank Hovore (Entomologist and Ed's best friend)

Here is an example of one of the many longhorned beetles that Giesbert discovered.

Many of his hand drawn pictures of his species still hang in the laboratory of his home.

This is Strongylaspis linsleyi pictured in a pamphlet published by Edmund Giesbert in the Pan-Pacific Entomologist 63(2):147-150
