Subj: Favorite Top Water Date: 9/5/99 7:29:14 AM Central Daylight Time From: Univox@htonline.com (Ed Wolfe) To: bolenderd@aol.com Dear Mr.. Rat: They're all wrong! The best top water lure is the Dalton Special. I have that lure and a deck of cards in my tackle box. If you're not catching fish with the Dalton Special you might as well play cards. Check it out at: http://htonline.htonline.com/~univox/ I like this favorite lure page! I will try some of the suggestions. P.S. I've been looking for a weedless scum-buster and on your recommendation I'll try out the Tourney Frog. Thanks.

Subj: Slop lure Date: 9/1/99 1:14:59 PM Central Daylight Time From: wgriffit@olemiss.edu (William Griffith) To: bolenderd@aol.com You have a fantastic site!! I love the games. I am formally from IL and my favorite slop lure there was a Heddon Moss Boss. I also used a floating prop buzzbait from Mister Twister. I like it because I could pause it during my retrieve without it sinking. Just last night, I caught a few bass using the snagproof frog you mention in your site. I miss alot of fish with it though. Any tips on how to get more hookup using this bait? Great site, Wm. Griffith

Subj: it works if you have nothing else Date: 8/29/99 4:11:58 PM Central Daylight Time From: Quiksilver5 To: BolenderD hi. i have tried a number of different things to catch bass. i have found that other than professional lures some uncommon things work. i have caught bass with small bluegill fish, hot dogs, crawdads, and even clam meat. when i have nothing else to use down at the creek or river i use clam meat most of the time because it works the best but i also use crawdads. if you dont believe me try it yourself. but then again it might be the technique i use and/or where i fish. this bait i use does work though. elizabeth

Subj: fishing lure Date: 8/21/99 8:06:45 AM Central Daylight Time From: Furyy666 To: BolenderD i have these two great lures. one of them is the moss mouse and the other is the frog. they are both weedless so they can get into anywhere without getting stuck.

Subj: Bass lure Date: 8/20/99 3:23:41 PM Central Daylight Time From: wxman94@webtv.net (Michael wesley) To: bolenderd@aol.com I'm from MN and live on a lake about 50 miles form Canada just North of Grand Rapids, MN. My dad,mom and me all use a lure made by a company by the name of DeLong they make this licorice scented black plastic 3 hook worm. Let me tell you we have yet to find a beter lure to catch bass on, it seems when we go fishing with friends they all start out using their lure but within 15 minutes the are asking for 1 of ours. It is one amazing lure. Happy Fishing Michael W.Schierer

Subj: Best lure Date: 8/19/99 1:43:50 AM Central Daylight Time From: KJBURT@email.msn.com (KJBURT) To: bolenderd@aol.com Well the best lure we have in Oregon to use in the "slop" as you put it is the Rat by snag proof. The white and black seem to work the best! Casting ability and the nice plop as it hits the water is fantastic. Bass just go crazy over them I have personally had from two fish on one retrieve 14 smashing hits! All of which almost cause your heart to stop and your pants to get wet. If you haven't tried the Rat then maybe you should go out and get one and try a real long cast to the weeds and just do a nice slow crank,(warning though if you have any heart problems bring the EMT's with you!). From Kevin in Eugene Oregon.

Subj: lures Date: 8/17/99 11:11:06 PM Central Daylight Time From: lngraul@bmts.com (Larry Graul) To: bolenderd@aol.com The best lure I have had the best luck with is the new THUNDER STICK. I just caught a largemouth basswith this. TRY IT AND YOU WILL NOT GO HOME EMPTY HANDED.....

Subj: best lure Date: 8/18/99 10:55:53 AM Central Daylight Time From: trudy@GREYNET.NET (Trudy) To: bolenderd@aol.com My favourite lure to use is the live minnow. Get one that is about 3 inches in lenght and hook it through the botom lip and cast it out and let it swim on top of the water. Bass just can't resist the smell of live meat. always fishin FRED

Subj: Date: 8/17/99 4:03:48 PM Central Daylight Time From: teresa@ocsonline.com (Teresa Barnes) To: bolenderd@aol.com With all my years of experience fishing, topwater has to my favorite way to land a big bass. My favorite to do this, with would have to be the heddon tiny torpedo bronze/shad color jerk jerk retrive method and watch out it's highly effective! Nick GA

Subj: REBLE CRICKHOPPER Date: 8/15/99 8:49:04 AM Central Daylight Time From: Yoboy1987 To: BolenderD THE REBLE CRICK HOPPER IS MY PERSONAL FAVORITE BECAUSE WHEN THERE HITTIN ON ANYTHING ELSE I PULL OUT MY REBLE CRIKHOPPER AND I ALWAYS CATCH NICE BASS THE BEST WAY TO USE IT IS TO CAST NEAR STRUTURE OR ANYTHING ELSE IN THE WATER WHEN YOU CAST IT LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND THE JUST SIMPLEY TWITCH IT ON THE FIRST TWITCH THEY USAULLY HIT I THINK IT IS THE BEST TOPWATER BAIT I RECOMEND YOU TRI IT I USE THE COLOR OARGE AND GREEN IS BEST YOUR FRIEND,JARED SHAFFER

Subj: Blue Fox Date: 8/14/99 11:27:50 AM Central Daylight Time From: RobHen7 To: BolenderD My favorite lure has to be the Blue Fox spinner. I just started fishing two years ago and I am 14, but I have yet to find a better lure than the blue fox spinner. I get a hit everytime and Two days ago my cousin reeled in an 8 pounder with it. We had it mounted, and its hanging on his wall today. Another good lure is the original snag proof frog and crawfish. Bass Rat your website rules! Hen

Subj: better lure Date: 8/12/99 12:03:24 AM Central Daylight Time From: richshaw@injersey.com (Richard Shaw) Reply-to: richshaw@injersey.com To: bolenderd@aol.com I recently bought the bionic minnow lure kit. I found that the top water bait included in the kit is awsome. It can be rigged with a weedless hook. The system works great. If you have $30 give it a try. Thanks Gregg

Subj: my favorit lure Date: 8/8/99 8:46:27 PM Central Daylight Time From: normport@sprint.ca (Norman Porter) To: bolenderd@aol.com bassrat i love your web page,it is one of my favorite . in weeds i like to use a spinnerbait just below the surface, works just fine .i recently caught a 4 pounder doing this ( i am only 13 ). in open water i like to use a normal ballhead jig with a 3 inch grub, this works great for smallies. have a great fishing season, kevin

Subj: Date: 8/6/99 3:14:33 PM Central Daylight Time From: scfields@midusa.net (Crystal Inman) To: bolenderd@aol.com The best new top water bait is the skitter pop by Normark lures. the only problem is it does get caught in the weeds. So I also use a weedless popfrog endorsed by Bill Dance in heavy vegetation. i fish alot of strip pits and ponds and summer topwater action has been awesome this year. Scott Fields Frontenac Kansas

Subj: Favorite lure Date: 8/4/99 5:55:15 PM Central Daylight Time From: elder340@wans.net (elder340) To: bolenderd@aol.com Hi, My favorite top water bait for fishing overlapping lily pads is a weightless zoom centipede rigged with a No 1 or 1/0 Gamakatsu E.W.G. It gets snagged less than a regular worm does. (Braided line is also helpful - it gets fish up on top of the pads quicker than mono). P.S. Has anyone heard of a soft bait called a "Phish Stick". It looks like a soft Zara Puppy or Cotee "Reel Magic". Last I heard it was being made somewhere in Texas. Thanks, John

Subj: BETTER LURE Date: 7/26/99 4:21:46 PM Central Daylight Time From: Britt10381 To: BolenderD I LIKE THE SUNBURST SCUMFROG IT WORKS GREAT THE BASS SEE THE COLORS AND YOU GOT A BASS

Subj: good top water bait in the weeds Date: 7/16/99 9:45:45 PM Central Daylight Time From: lbctennant@worldnet.att.net (L Tennant) To: bolenderd@aol.com CC: lbc@worldnet.com.net Hi this is Brett Tennant and i would have to say that my favorite top water bait to use in the weeds is the Excalibur Spittin Image. It is a great lure because it imitates a dying shad or baitfish. If you cast it near a stump or some weeds is where it works best. Well this is just my opinion about topwaters. Good luck with your fishin. Brett Tennant

Subj: favorite top water Date: 7/16/99 10:22:14 PM Central Daylight Time From: gidget@mediaone.net (Despres family) To: bolenderd@aol.com my favorite top water bait is a 8 inch rubber lizard, run em on the top like a buzz bait and the bass pounce on em. thanks alot. sincerely Fish Face

Subj: (no subject) Date: 7/17/99 10:15:26 AM Central Daylight Time From: BJSGorilla To: BolenderD Thanks for the tip on your favorite lure! I fish heavy weed cover and always shied away from the soft plastic frog imitations (thought they were cheap and possibly too light to cast). Thanks to your (and my new) favorite lure, I have been having some of the best action in years. Thanks!! Bruce in Wisconsin

Subj: topwater Date: 7/10/99 9:12:29 PM Central Daylight Time From: CARHOP17 To: BolenderD I would have to go with the Heddon Tiny Torpedo. It has performed the best for me out here in Ohio. ------Josh C.------bones81@hotmail.com

Subj: heavy weeds or pads fishing Date: 6/20/99 12:11:15 AM Central Daylight Time From: Simmonswc To: BolenderD The bait that I like to use is a floating worm with a hook that will not sink the bait but big enuff to land the huge fish that will hit it. My fishing partner and me use this as a back up plan that will work! This plan has savad us in many tournaments I hope this helps you bring in the money or just a lot of fish. From: Ray Ruiz

Subj: Re: heavy weeds or pads fishing Date: 6/25/99 7:47:25 PM Central Daylight Time From: Simmonswc To: BolenderD I am glad that you are going to try my tip. I use a bait cast reel (open face reel) on a Med. action rod. During the last tournament I tried two new colors (bubble gum, and black ). They helped us place 8th out of about 140 boats ,but that was very hard becase the fish were hard to get to bite. At least 15 boat gave up because they did not have any fish. So I am now using the Floating worm during the day on weeds that are under water about a foot, lily pads that are around the bank, and trees that have fell in the water. You can fish the Floating worm any were. I have landed fish in open water to the very heavy lily pads. Ray Ruiz

Subj: BassRat lure Date: 6/23/99 6:33:29 PM Central Daylight Time From: wnelson@mint.net (Wayne P. Nelson) To: bolenderd@AOL.COM I would appreciate if anyone could help me find a lure a lunker stole from me two days ago. I was called a bass rat and it was yellow with brownish/gold speckles. It had a rubber skirt with many rubber strings for a tail. It was soft rubber and the hooks were close to the body. The head was shaped like a mouse so that it produced a nice wake like a swimming mouse or rat. It was totally weedless and the bass loved it. I bought it on a wim in a small tackle shop and can't find it anywhere. I have looked in cabelas and basspro and although they have bass rats, they are not the same. They simply lack the same shape and color. Please help!?!?

Subj: best lure in the world Date: 6/9/99 3:03:39 PM Central Daylight Time From: he_lives@custom.net (Flinn) To: bolenderd@aol.com My favorite topwater lure has got to be either the SKITTER POP by Rapala, or the RATTLIN' CHUG BUG by Storm. The most fish I've caught on a topwater lure have probably been on the skitter pop, but I've slayed a lot of nice-big bass on the rattlin' chug bug. Good luck on your future bass slayin'!!!! bass slayer

Subj: Date: 6/5/99 10:23:28 PM Central Daylight Time From: marpat9@gateway.net (marpat9) Reply-to: marpat9@gateway.net (marpat9) To: bolenderd@aol.com hello i am a big bass fisherman and i have found that a popar works very well i have caught 7 to 11 pound bass on them.

Subj: Awsome Lure Date: 6/5/99 6:07:25 PM Central Daylight Time From: HRW1225 To: BolenderD The floating buzzbait is so unique because slow roll it, keeping it in the strike zone longer unlike other buzzbaits which you have to reel fast to keep it from sinking. Your friend, Ryan-hrw1225@aol.com

Subj: favorite topwater Date: 5/31/99 4:22:34 PM Central Daylight Time From: gsprouls@ticz.com (Jacob) To: bolenderd@aol.com I would have to say that my favorite topwater for clear water is a chartreuse/chartreuse buzzbait, with a black or white twirl tail grub for a trailer. Drop it parallel to the bank along a lilly pad line, and burn it back when the temp is about 65-80F. Retrieve it between 6inches under the surface to the very top. It's a good idea to wear a weight lifting belt when you do this, to protect your back. Those fish can hurt ya bad!! Ha ha. Thanks a lot. Jacob Sprouls

Subj: favorate top water lure Date: 99-05-27 18:08:10 EDT From: jeanb@internet1.net (Jean Brunt) To: bolenderd@aol.com My fav top water lure is the spittin image and a storm chug bug both produce awasom top water strikes also a storm thunder stick (baby size) is a very productive lure

Subj: Topwater lure Date: 99-05-26 09:59:46 EDT From: gshepherd@shawnee.k12.ok.us (DECA) To: bolenderd@aol.com CC: ottboy99@aol.com Bass Rat, All those fancy lures are good, But I still have to go with my all time favorite BUZZ BAIT. It will go anywhere wether your fishing in the tree's or by the reeds. It won't snag on grass, tree's, ect..... under the water. So I think the BUZZ BAIT is the best lure ever

Subj: Fav. topwater lure Date: 99-05-26 09:54:58 EDT From: gshepherd@shawnee.k12.ok.us (DECA) To: bolenderd@aol.com I have to say that my all time favorite lure is the BUZZ BAIT. It is plain, but I have caught many fish with it. You can bring it between trees and just fish along the side of reeds and whatever. It has to be the all time best topwater lure, oh what am I talking about. My all time favorite lure! Good Luck! Tyler Ott

Subj: Date: 99-05-22 15:30:22 EDT From: tdpete@scecnet.net (tdpete) To: bolenderd@aol.com I think the best topwater lure(although not very weedless) is the Rapala jointed minnow. You can do anything with it. You can make it swim, splash, jump, dart, anything your heart desires. It is one of the most versitile lures i have ever fished. If the bass don't hit it, it works wonders for northerns. I am not sure of the new Skitterpop by Rapala, but it looks like a poretty darn good lure also. Rusty Halberd

Subj: favorite lures Date: 99-05-16 22:32:19 EDT From: oldsalt@mindspring.com (Brady Mitchell) To: bolenderd@aol.com Hey Bassrat! My favorite lure is the Heddon Zara Spook. I think the older model with the line tie in the nose had the best action. These are no longer made but can be bought through the old fishing tackle clubs. Subj: bass fishin Date: 99-05-14 11:25:40 EDT From: mslab@perham.k12.mn.us (mslab 17) To: bolenderd@aol.com I like casting a rubber frog into pockets in lily pads or bull rushes using about 15 lb mono and a 6 ft rod. I have caught my biggest bass' doing that. one of them weighed 6 lb.! If you would like to e-mail me, my address is fordsuck@hotmail.com.

Subj: Favorite Lure!!! Date: 99-05-10 23:22:14 EDT From: GmHill56 To: BolenderD Haven't seen many people from Connecticut posting here so i though i would... Im 23 and have been fishing for quite some time now...over the years i fell in love with any lure by Rappala, but i have recently i have fell in love with SLUGOS.. I have consistently caught more big bass with these little wonders...oh yeah and a little "jiggaboo-joy juice" never hurt attracting these beauties... Gary Hill West Haven, Ct

Subj: Top Water Lures (over lily pads and slop) Date: 99-05-05 22:07:21 EDT From: gcjanisch@usinternet.com (Gary Janisch) To: bolenderd@aol.com The best top water lure I've ever used is the Tender Rat. It's soft plastic. When the bass hit it, you'll need to wait about 5 seconds before setting the hook. (It seems like an eterinty). The only place I've found them is in the Bass Pro Shop Magazine a few years ago. I bought about 30 of them at the time. There not in the magazine any longer. If someone knows where to buy them now, let me know. Gary from Minnesota

Subj: my "fav" Date: 99-04-29 00:58:22 EDT From: vonotto@airbrush-vonotto.com (Von Otto) To: bolenderd@aol.com hi, my "fav"lure is a jigging spoon with a stop go method...but also like a good buzzbait with a live minnow trailer. Nate
