BELRIV - Belize - PA-HEN Children's stories

PA-HEN AND THE MAHOGANY TREES!

A children's story about the life of Henry Fairweather

by Bert Tucker

PA-HEN was a young surveyor,

and walking through the bushes one day,

when he had just finished surveying the Belize - Guatemala border,

and had seen many things,

for when you survey the land,

you also survey the water and trees,

and birds and the breeze,

and you are at peace with all you survey,

when you try to live as one,

and be master of none.

He had seen people burning the forests,

and killing the birds and bees,

and they were destroying many beautiful trees,

destorying the Belize Breeze!

He was distressed,

they were burning more valuable things for money.

They were giving their more to receive their less.

He thought this made no sense.

He thought they were creating poverty.

There must be a way, he said,

someone must show them,

how to live with the trees and protect the land,

and how to live in harmony, hand in hand,

with all living things,

all creatures great and small,

for the Lord God made US all.....
