Yes, we've come to terms with the fact that 99% of the music played in gay clubs on Long Island is some form of urban/techno/dance….and some of us like that, too….but we'd also like to be out there on the dance floor, dancing away to the sounds of Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, Alan Jackson, JoDee Messina, Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, Chris Cagle, John Michael Montgomery and countless other hot country acts who rarely get played within the walls of Long Island's gay clubs.
MORE INFO on the Long Island Wranglers :
Join us for a night of line-dancin', country music, and socializin' with cowboy-country-lovin' people, every 2nd Friday of the month at the Long Island Eagle! Admission is FREE! We will be there from 9:30 pm onward, and even if you can't make it until later that night, that's OK, 'cause we'll be going til well after midnight. As always, cowboy gear/apparel is encouraged, but not required. If you are a beginner in line-dancing, DON'T be intimidated! Many of our attendees are beginners & first-timers. This is a great opportunity to learn line-dancing, if you've always wanted to but were afraid to, for whatever reason. We gear our line dances towards beginners & advanced beginners, as many Long Islanders are new to this. Also, YOU DON'T NEED TO DANCE AT ALL TO ATTEND! Some attendees just enjoy coming for the country music & friendly cowboy atmosphere. We give line dance lessons throughout the evening, (approximately every 45 minutes). We encourage beginners to arrive early, because our first line dance lesson is the most basic. (First lesson usually begins sometime between 9:45 pm to 10:30 pm). And we do repeat the various dances throughout the evening, so you can practice & re-practice what you've learned. So, y'all come on down! For directions to the Eagle, scroll down further on this page. GET ON OUR NOTIFY LIST !!! Want to receive e-mail updates about upcoming Wrangler events, and keep up with what's going on in the gay country/cowboy scene on Long Island? Just join our Yahoo Group by clicking here. You will be taken to our Yahoo Group page, where you can sign up and start receiving messages, ( and posting your own, if you'd like), about the Long Island Wranglers. You'll also be sent a monthly reminder of our Cowboy Night at the Eagle. We're not just a dancing group; if you'd like to meet some new friends on Long Island who share your country/cowboy outlook, (and who also happen to be gay), then you're invited to hang out with us! We're also still looking for people interested in getting involved behind the scenes with the Wranglers. Not only as dance instructors...we could also use people to help out with set-up, decorations, music, promotion, flyers, and mainly….ideas about future growth of the Long Island Wranglers. The number one rule is that we have fun, and we're a friendly buncha' suburban cowboys & cowgirls, so….join us! We're going to try to develop some other Wrangler activities outside the bar scene….if you have any ideas, we'd like to hear 'em! LEARN TO LINE DANCE AT HOME : Because so many people have written to ask HOW they can learn some country line dances before attending their first Wranglers dance, I have posted some links below for some excellent country line dancing video instructional tapes. However, even those these are some nice tapes, they are not any of the country dances that we do at the Eagle. (There are, literally, hundreds of dances to learn out there). So, if you want to simply try out some dances, by all means, check out these tapes. But, if you want to learn the dances that we do, you're gonna' have to come on down to the Eagle to learn 'em! To order the tapes, you can click on the text links below the graphics, (don't click on the graphics themselves, that won't work), to purchase them rather inexpensively at Amazon.com.
