In the arms of an angel
may you find some comfort here....

We have to let go of the life we planned,
In order to live the life God meant us to have...

The Dilemma

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk rejection.
To place your dreams before the crowd is to risk ridicule.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life
is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing does nothing,
has nothing, is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or love.
Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave.
He has forfeited his freedom.
Only a person who takes risks is free.

"I am nothing special; of this I am sure.
I am a common man with common thoughts,
and I've led a common life.
There are no monuments dedicated to me
and my name will soon be forgotten,
but I've loved another with all my heart and soul,
and to me, this has always been enough."
Nicholas Sparks, "The Notebook"

Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery,
and today a gift-- That's why they call it the present.

Puff

Sadly, my little shadow, Puff, went to Heaven on February 9, 2001.
With a broken heart, I held the little sweetheart in my arms
until I knew he was safely there.
He crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, and now is free of sickness,
and can chase birds outside to his heart's content.
May God keep him safe until I see him in heaven.

After A While
Veronica Shoffstall

After a while you learn the subtle difference
between holding a hand and sharing a life
and you learn that love doesn't mean possession
and company doesn't mean security
and loneliness is universal.

And you learn that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes open
with the grace of a woman
not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build your hope on today
as the future has a way of falling apart in mid flight.
Because tomorrow's ground can be too uncertain for plans,
yet each step taken in a new direction creates a path
toward the promise of a brighter dawn.

And you learn that even the sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and nourish your own soul
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that love, true love,
always has joys and sorrows,
seems ever present, yet is never quite the same,
becoming more than love and less than love
so difficult to define.
And you learn that through it all
you really can endure
that you really are strong
that you do have value
and you learn and grow
with every good bye
you learn.
