TRANSMITTER HUNTING EQUIPMENT
STARTING OUT
The following equipment is recommended as the minimum that one
should have as a new hunter.
Ordinary Items
- 2 meter Handi-Talkie or mobile transceiver.
- Magnetic compass, handheld.
- Field strength meter, with 1/4 wave spike antenna.
- Map board (anything suitable). Area map. Obtainable from Auto
Club. Cover with plastic so can mark with a grease pencil.
- Detailed maps of hunting areas. Obtainable from Auto
Club.
- Large protractor.
- Grease pencil (China Marker).
- Pencil and paper.
- Flashlight.
- Straight edge (Yardstick)
Special Items
- Small beam, 2 to 4 element loop beam, or 3 to 6 element
Yagi.
- RF Attenuator.
TO ADD LATER
Effective hunting can be done with only the items listed above.
The items below are useful, and will make hunting easier and more
pleasurable.
- Car compass
- Binoculars
- Sniffer for hunting on foot
- Map reading light in car.
- High intensity spot light on car
- Battery powered high intensity spot light for hunting on
foot.
- Handi-Talkie and mobile radio
- A Doppler DF system.
- A SuperDF (which can be used mobile or hand held, vertical or
horizontal).
