This page was created using NaviPress 1.1, which follows the HTML 3.0 standard. It has a few minor text formatting "funnies" when viewed on AOL's browser (which is HTML 2.0 standard), but its usable.
The main goal was to provide content, rather than a lot of flash, but at the same time have a nice looking page. We also wanted to cut down on the wait time for visitors, especially during peak use hours, when the Internet and / or access providers slow down. We didn't want people having to page through several layers so we have tried to keep the number of layers of links to a minimum.
Also to speed loading, most graphics are optional (under viewer's control). We tried to keep the graphics simple so they wouldn't take too long to load, with their display being optional under the viewer's control. The original graphics were studied to see which could be converted to pure text, and that work was done.
Alternate text has been provided for images for text-only browsers.
The writer got tired of looking at gray backgrounds, but didn't like the harshness of white, so we settled on what you see now. Its sort of looks like parchment on my monitor.
The writer has been on the WWW only a few months. This is the first attempt at a Home Page, so he would appreciate feedback. (To send your comments by Email, see below.)
