Benefit Dance for Paul "the Painter" Stanworth

Jennifer Sicard and Paul Stanworth

Paul was painting the roof of a house just behind the Royal Bank in Shawville, when his ladder contacted high-powered electrical wires. The spark ignited a flash fire of the paint fumes, and Paul fell unconscious to the ground, with his coveralls smouldering. Bank customers, volunteer firefighters and ambulance crews were quickly on the scene, and Paul was rushed first to Pontiac Community hospital, then to Ottawa, then to Montreal. He was expected to remain there for at least a month, but he proved tougher than fire. Bored with laying about, he came home to his wife's superior cooking, where he could be with his children and horses, and ease his way back into his work. The ADAT t-shirt is indicative of the fact that Paul is a stalwart member of that organization. His direct statements often put an end to rambling discussions.

Music featured the Reunited

or rather, the Reconstituted Ironwood. l~r, David Morgan, guitar, Richard Wills, drums, Dan Major, iron-on bass player, and Robert Wills, guitar

Tom Murdoch and Eddy Jean-Marie organized a raffle of doorprizes donated by local businesses. In back is Tom Fishel, who gathered the musicians for the in between set of bluegrass/country music. Paul drew the numbers out of the bowl to choose the winners. Nearly everyone who attended got an evening's good entertainment plus a valuable doorprize.
Don McCredie, owner of the RVI, auctioned off rare Ironwood records from 1975 - they fetched about $200 to add to the kitty, which totalled over $2,000.
