The follwoing fotos were taken in the Maldives, at the
Lhaviyani Atoll in December 2000.
About 90 % of the coral are dead after the coral
bleaching in summer 1998.
But the fishlife is still the same as in the old days
before El Ninho. I have never seen this abundance
of fish, turtles, sharks, rays, etc. in any other dive
location in the world. Therefore I rate the Maldives
still as one of the best dive locations in the world.
