Welcome to
Dr. Andrew S. Bloom's Web Page!

This is Dr. Andrew S. Bloom, DVM, MS, owner of Bovine Health Services, Windthorst, Texas. For those not familiar with Texas, Windthorst is a community of 500+ with 60+ medium to large family owned dairy herds about 25 miles south of Wichita Falls on Hwy 281.   This community has been producing quality milk for over 106 years!

Dr. Bloom graduated from Texas A&M University in 1983 with a degree in Animal Science.  He continued to receive a Dairy Science degree the following year.  Before beginning a career as a Dairy Veterinarian, he was a herdsman on a Guernsey Dairy Farm in Texas, and managed a moderate sized dairy herd in East Texas for Robert Winn, DVM.  Before entering veterinary school, Dr. Bloom receive another degree, Masters in Dairy Science under the supervision of Dr. Michael Tomaszewski, Texas Dairy Extension Specialist, Texas Dairy Herd Improvement Association.  Here, Andy was active in computerization of records, and breeding decision analysis using quadratic programming methods.  He also worked with DHIA's database creation, and DHIA supervisors.  It's amazing how far computers have evolved since those days of the 'fast'  8088 PC.

After graduation from veterinary school, Texas A&M University, in 1993, Dr. Bloom began his work with dairy cattle in the southern San Joaquin Valley of California.  In Bakersfield, CA, he as an associate veterinarian in a 2 and 3 man practice that served dairy clientele.  After a short associate position in Texas, Dr. Bloom has owned his own practice since 1996 in the Windthorst area. He provides comprehensive cattle services, milk laboratory, drugs and supplies.
