RELEGATION UPDATE & STRIKER LIST

The SPL confirmed today that if Livingston don't win the Division 1 title there will be no relegation or promotion between the SPL and the SFL Division 1 at the end of this season.

Livingston, Airdrie and Raith Rovers are the only 3 clubs in Division 1 that meet the stadium criteria for the SPL. Out of the 3 clubs Livingston are the only side who can now achieve promotion as they sit in 2nd spot in Division 1, 1 point behind leaders Ayr Utd but with 2 games in hand.

St Mirren manager Tom Hendrie has revealed the names of some of the strikers he tried to bring to Love Street before last weekend's transfer deadline.

We had all previously heard of the attempts to bring Paul Kitson, Benito Carbone, Daniel Amokachi and Brazilian ace Ronaldinho. The other names included Dean Saunders (Bradford), Paul Furlong (Chelsea) and ex-Ranger Marco Negri. It's believed that Negri felt he wasn't fit enough to help Saints in their plight to avoid the drop and that Saunders didn't really fancy coming to Love Street. Hendrie said the closest he came to signing any of the big names was that of Ronaldinho who was prepared to come to Love Street but red tape from the Brazilian FA meant that the signing of the player wouldn't have beaten the transfer deadline.
