
1969: We were a happy group.
We trained from a ship shape diving barge in the James River. The water conditions were perfect: cold, deep mud, pretty much zero visibility, did I mention deep mud?

Ouch ...

Tightly cinching down the divers jock strap prevents the helmet from rising when in the water. It's a bit uncomfortable on the surface. I found out, at the USN School, that having it extra tight helped when doing a surface swim. That was kinda like riding a bicycle.
That hurts, I know.
