Above is the Buffalo Bill's Resort and Casino. It is located in Primm, Nevada at the State Line. This is where Desperado is located. Desperado is considered a "hyper coaster", meaning it is over 200 feet tall. This steel coaster was designed and built by Ron Toomer of Arrow Dynamics. It was built in 1994 as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, ( a few others have been built slightly taller now ). Its lift height is 209 feet and has a 225 foot drop, which tied the second drop of Kennywood's Steel Phantom. Both reach average speeds of 80 mph. The Desperado is 5,843 feet in length and the ride time is 2 minutes and 43 seconds. It uses three trains, 5 cars per train, 6 riders per car or 30 riders per train.

Desperado is one of my favorite steel coasters. Right now it is number 3 on my top ten steel coaster list. I rode it for the first time in May, 1998. I have been on three "hyper" coasters, the Magnum XL 200 at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, Steel Force at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA, and now Desperado. Desperado is my favorite of the three. The other two are good, but the design of them are out and backs, meaning they simply go straight out and come straight back to the station. Desperado has many turns and many twists, and alot of direction changes, that is what I like in a roller coaster.

AND NOW,
DESPERADO
