SPONSORING A CAT

Sometimes you want to help, but you just can't take in a new cat or don’t have time to volunteer.  Sponsoring a cat may be the best way for you to help!

Some of the sweet cats we take in have suffered through very hard lives of abuse, malnourishment, disease and/or neglect.  Because we adopt out only the healthiest cats, we must take on expenses and care for the hardship cases ourselves. In some cases, this can mean catastrophically high costs in veterinary bills and medicine to save a life. Would you be willing to help?

Our "Sponsor a Cat Program" relies on your contributions to help care for the many unadoptable, unhealthy, senior cats and/or emergency care cases that come our way. Please take a look at the cats currently in our care that would greatly benefit from your generous support.  You can sponsor a particular cat or you can indicate to provide for a cat that is in the greatest need.

Our emergency care fund helps when we take in a cat who is very ill.  The veterinary expenses really add up when we need blood work, x-rays, medications and hospitalization.  Please see bottom of page for some examples of how we have used these funds to care for ill kitties.

The unadoptable cats are cared for each day and enjoy a good quality of life however long it is.  They spend the rest of their lives with us and are provided the best medical care.  Some cats like Big Ben will recover and be adoptable after time.

You can choose to give a one time gift of $10 or more or choose to sponsor with a monthly donation.  Your donation can make a big difference to one of these sweet kitties.

Peter would like a sponsor!  Peter is about 9 years old.  He is a large, neutered, declawed male, orange, long hair handsome boy, who we believe has been abandoned 2 or 3 times in his life.  He has had some trauma in his life that has caused his tail to be paralyzed and his back legs weak.  We believe he might of been abused which caused the trauma, but we aren't sure. His bladder also was damaged and he can not control it.  He uses the litter box, but he leaks urine when he is resting in his beds.  For this reason, Peter will most likely never be adopted.  He is a huge sweetheart who loves to stretch up on your leg to hug and to be picked up.  He loves to curl up in a warm lap.

Other ways to help Peter: Other ways to help Peter:  He needs Hill's Science Diet Senior food and Senior Hairball food donated.

Funny Face is adoptable.  He needs a dental and all of his teeth pulled because of dental disease called stomatitis. He is very sweet and hilarious when he plays.  He's one cool cat!  To learn more about adopting this awesome kitty, click here!

Meet George.  He is so silly.  We got him when he was 15 years old.  He is now 18.  We also had his sibling who passed due to renal failure.  George also has been in renal failure since we've had him.   He receives fluids and is on a special diet and medicines.  He is such a happy guy.  He's had his teeth cleaned.

Sadly George passed away peacefully in January 2007.  We miss him very much.

This is handsome senior kitty Buffy.  He is a Burmese mix. His elderly mom was no longer able to care for him.  She was so worried that someone would abuse him because he doesn't always want to use the litter box.  We promised her he would never be abused and because of his behavior issue, he has a safe, forever "retirement home" with other permanent fosters.  So far Buffy is not on any medications but he does desperately need his teeth cleaned.  Buffy is a wonderfully sweet boy.  He has some of the biggest blue eyes you have ever seen.

Other ways to help Buffy!  Buffy needs Hill's Science Diet Senior food and Hill's Science Diet Hairball food.  Of course he would like toys and any other fun cat items.  Buffy is due for his dental cleaning and we have been putting it off until we get our vet bill down (over $7000 right now!).  If you would like to help us get Buffy's get his teeth cleaned sooner, the dental will cost a minimum of $135.

Meet handsome AMOS!  He was one of the very first Conrad Strays cats.  I tell everyone he started it all!  He was on our new property when we moved in and was scared and always ran away.  Then the big handsome tom cat would come a little closer, then a little closer.  After a year of trying to catch him to neuter him, I bought the first Conrad Strays cat trap.  When I caught this big boy and took him to the clinic to get neutered, he also needed to have his teeth cleaned, cheat grass removed from inside his mouth and have abscess surgery.  He was a muscle bound, scared up tom who is now a sweet lap kitty. It was a miracle he didn't have FIV or Leukemia since he was out there fighting for so long.  He is a wonderful, loving boy who is not adoptable because of behavior reasons and heart condition.  FYI, his half, scared up ear is caused from frostbite.

Other ways to help Amos!  Amos would love some Hill's Science Diet Senior and Senior hairball food.   Amos loves bird watching and says he'd like some birdseed donated too.  He is due for another dental cleaning but due to his heart condition, he is not able to undergo anesthesia.  So to help him keep his teeth and mouth healthier and to keep bacteria down, he needs CET Dental Cat Chews.

Toby is 8 and is in renal failure.  He is currently doing great.  His owners were going to euthanasia him because he was so ill.  He couldn't even hold his head up because his potassium level was so low. I work at the clinic where he was staying and I have so much experience with kidney failure cats, I took one look at him and as sick as he was he stretched out to me kneading and purring and I knew from his eyes and my experience he had a chance to pull thru this critical stage.  His owners agreed to surrender him to us.  We immediately put him on IV fluids and got him started on much needed medications. The first month was difficult getting him to eat on his own.  Now, he is doing so great.  Eating like crazy, running around sparing.  Playing like a kitten.  He is very stable and happy.  He receives subcutaneous fluids, medicines and is on a special diet.  He's a new cat.  He could be with us for a few more months or several years.  Only God knows.  But we know he is happy and he is enjoying his second chance of life.

Other ways to help Toby:  Toby needs Hill's Science Diet k/d dry food or canned.  Also, he is absolutely fascinated with running water.

Examples of just a few cats that the Emergency Funds have helped.

Most recently a kitty with no name I decided to call "Stray Angel". This poor boy showed up at a very cat loving home, skinny, matted, starving and very, very sick.  We took the kitty in and blood work and x-rays were performed indicating he was suffering from end stage cancer and renal failure.  (x-rays not only showed large cancer mass, but show he was shot with a pellet and the pellet was lodged in the bone of one of his hind legs). Stray Angel as sick as he was still purred and kneaded.  We humanely euthanized him to end his suffering to allow him to go in peace to heaven.  We are so thankful he didn't die alone in the cold.  The very sad part is he was microchipped.  We researched quickly to find his owner in case they were looking for him so they could say good-bye.  The owner's information with the microchip compnay was no longer current and no missing cat report was reported to the shelter.  So sadly this cat was abandoned by his owner and left all alone.  Not to mention he was declawed living outside without anyway to defend himslef.  Also a neighbor of the person who found him thinks they seen a car dump him too.  I will never understand.  Never. God bless you Mr. Stray Angel in heaven.  We loved you for the short time you were with us and you were not alone!

Joey is a feral kitty who because of some trauma, had to have a leg amputated.  She now lives with other fosters and is doing great.  Being feral, she is not adoptable but she enjoys playing with the other kitties and will have a good, long, safe life.

Ash was a tiny kitten thrown out of a car, abused by small kids who found him and then rescued by a passer by.  He was covered with lice and fleas.  Was anemic and his eyes were sealed shut.  His upper respiratory infection caused his eyes to have permanant damage.  He is now mostly blind and had a couple of minor eye surgeries to save what was left of his eyes.  Thankfully, he was adopted and is in a loving home were he is spoiled and treasured.
