Copies of the Prohibition EP, To Be Somebody and Vasquez's Two Songs CD and some other cool stuff are now available via mail order. Check out our new MERCHANDISE PAGE.

Although it has not been mentioned for a while, work is progressing on the eventual DGen rarities and out-takes CD. Look for it to be released later next year after the Tsing Tsing album is completed. No word yet on when we might see the live album, but Jesse is still planning to get it released at some point (we've also heard that he had a 3-camera video made of that final show as well, so maybe if we all behave ourselves we'll see a DGen home video at some point).

As for Tsing-Tsing (who have now changed their name to Bellvue), they are currently working on their first record in an old church in upstate New York - look for a Spring 2001 release followed by some extensive touring outside of the NYC area. Meanwhile, there is no longer a deal with Omplatten Records to release the PCP Highway album - no word on new plans to release that disc. Finally, Danny has been recording some demos out west, but no word yet as to when something might be officially released.

09/15/2000
In a bit of unexpected news, Rick Bacchus is now playing guitar in Murphy's Law. His first show with the band will be on Sunday 9/17 at the Wreck Room in NJ. Murphy's Law will then be going out on the road opening up for the Misfits beginning on October 21. This does not mean, however, that Vasquez is done for - that band is still alive and well and will be releasing a live record sometime in the near future.

9/06/2000
Finally getting around to doing some long-overdue updates on the site. The photo gallery has been updated with a few new photo sets including shots from the final DGen show. The discography page has also been updated and I think every release is now listed and cataloged. Work is also being done on getting the lyrics page together finally.

In band-related news, Jesse and Joe have a new band called Tsing-Tsing, which also includes Esko, who played with them in PCP Highway. Howie has moved out to L.A. and will be staying in Danzig. Rick's band Vasquez recently recorded two sets at the Lakeside Lounge in NYC for an upcoming live album. No word yet on Mike or Danny's new projects, but if anyone has any info, please drop us an e-mail.

5/04/2000
Just a note to let you all know that there are some new pics of Howie and Todd from the current Danzig tour up at the Danzig fan site - click on the 'Gory Images' link. Also, we've heard from a couple of people that Michael is currently working on a new project - more details as we hear 'em. Finally, Mad Juana will be doing a Spanish tour later this month.

4/24/00
Well...today marks the one year aniversary of DGen's final live performance - played at the now closed Coney Island High in NYC, so be sure to pop in your fave DGen disc in the stereo today.

A couple of notes about Jesse. First, we have a section of the site now dedicated to his new solo career - you can go there by clicking here. Also, Jesse has put out his first solo CD, titled 169 EP. Mail order info is on VN's Jesse Malin page and on Jesse's official website.

4/07/00
Just a note to let you know that Jesse dropped a quick e-mail to us here at Vampire Nation and gave us the straight dope on his decision to go solo - you can read what he had to say here.

3/25/00
Greetings DGenerates and DGenerettes. Two big items to report on this time.

The first big bit of news is that Howie Pyro has left PCP Highway to accept a gig as the new bass player for Danzig. In addition to all of this, Jesse has desolved PCP Highway to persue a solo career (click here for a list of his upcoming shows).

The second exciting announcement is that Vasquez has finally issued their first release, a CD titled "Two Songs". Click here for more info.

In other news, we have heard that Danny will be entering an L.A. recording studio in a few weeks to begin laying down tracks for his next project, we'll keep you updated.

Finally, since a number of you asked, Vampire Nation will not be adding a Danzig page to this site, so for more info on what Howie is doing, check out their official fan page at www.the7thhouse.com (and while you're at it, post a message to Howie in their guestbook).

2/21/00
In general news, PCP Highway (who may be changing their name to Bellevue) are getting ready to release their first album, DREAMLESS, at the end of March, Vasquez is currently in the studio recording material for their first release and Chrome Locust is still re-grouping for their second effort. No word yet on the live DGen album or the rarities disc but hopefully we will hear more about them in the coming months.

Please note that the Vampire Nation site will be undergoing some construction over the next month or so as some pages need to be reorganized (especially the photo section), so some sections might be down for a little bit - if what you want to see isn't there, check back in a few days.

Some additions and corrections have been made to the bootleg page since our last update.

12/15/99
Ok - all of the photo secitons should be up on-line again. Some people have asked what's gonna be done with this webpage now that the band has broken up. Well - its going to stay up indefinately, and I will periodically be adding stuff to it (flyers, pics, etc.) as I come across them, as well as any updates regarding the upcoming live and out-takes albums, and whatever else seems more relavant here then on the PCP, CL and Vasquez sections. So the site will continue to be alive and well in 2000 and beyond.

11/23/99
Just a bit of news to report. There has been some progress made on the live DGen album that was recorded during the band's final show at Coney Island High last April. The tape still has to be mixed and that, hopefully, should be done once the PCP Highway album has finally been completed.

Also, Rick is going to be working behind the boards as the producer for the next album from the NYC band Skrap.

11/01/99
I finally heard some info about Danny Sage from a few people - guess we won't have to put his face on a milk carton after all. It seems that he has been writing some material and is going out west to L.A. to work on getting this stuff recorded.
There are some new photos on the PCP Highway section from some recent shows at Brownie's and the Continental and the Vasquez section has some new show dates for November.

10/19/99
Just a reminder that you can catch Jesse's acting debut starting this weekend. He has a bit part in the new Martin Scorsese movie "Bringing Out the Dead".

There are some new PCP Highway dates scheduled and Vasquez has a few shows scheduled as well, including one at CBGB's on the 23rd with PCP Highway.

Finally - some shameless promotion: I am now writing for a magazine called COMP. You can check out the mag's website at www.compzine.com. And for anyone who cares, you can click on the "current issue" link to read a copy of my interview with Jerry Only from the Misfits.

10/01/99
Hey gang - no word yet on a PCP Highway tour, but the band is currently gigging around NYC. For tour dates, click here.

Chrome Locust, meanwhile, is still auditioning for a replacement for Todd Youth. As for Vasquez, Rick said that they hope to have a recording out sometime this fall.

9/22/99
Hey there DGenerates and DGenerettes - we've got some pics up from PCP Highway's debut gig the other week over on the PCP Highway page - check 'em out.

Congrats to the winner of the Capital Offender contest - Mariano A. who hails all the way from ARGENTINA!! We actually had several entries from South America, which I think is pretty damn cool.

9/12/99
I found a pretty cool DGen page on RollingStone.com. Its got a few pics and interviews.

8/22/99
The PCP Highway tour has been postponed. A few dates are still scheduled for New York City in September with a rescheduling of the tour soon to follow. Also, along with Howie and Jesse, the rest of the band consists of Bobby Rae on drums and Esko on guitar. Meanwhile, Chrome Locust are currently out on the road, for show dates, click here. And Vasquez is doing a show in NYC on this Thursday, August 26 (check the Vasquezland site to find out exactly where).

8/10/99
Got some new pictures up, this set is from the band's gig at Trees in Dallas, TX on April 7, 1999. Speaking of Trees, PCP Highway will be kicking off their tour there on August 22 - they'll be finishing up at the Elbow Room in NYC on September 11. For a complete list of tour dates, click here. Also, Jesse and Howie have been writing yet more songs for the band, some other titles include: Love Streams, Summer and Smoke, Blind on Blind, High Lonesome, Damaged, Goin' South. An official PCP Higway website is up and running at www.PCPHighway.com.

Chrome Locust should also be hitting the road soon as well.

Finally, Rick has put together a Vasquez website - VASQUEZLAND - check it out.

7/8/99
The 4 winners of the HELPLESS CD-single contest have been contacted, so if you didn't hear back from us....better luck next time and thanks for entering.

It looks like DGeneration will be making another soundtrack appearance. The song "Hatred" will be on the soundtrack to the the movie "Universal Soldier II - Return". The disc is due to be released on July 13 on the BMG/Trauma label.

Some news to report: Jesse and Howie have been working on a new project and have already written and recorded a 9-song demo tape which they are shopping around. I do not know who else is in this new band (although Joe Rizzo's name was mentioned to me by a couple of people); I also have heard that Jesse is playing guitar in this band. The name of the new band is PCP HIGHWAY. The song titles on the demo tape are:

Dragon County
A Funeral in June
Bklyn
White Lies
Solataire
Bad Actor
Basement Home
No Mass
Sorrow

6/15/99
Well there is some good news - we all can look forward to at least two more releases from DGen in the near future. One will be a live CD recorded at the last Coney Island High show. The other will be an album of out-takes and unreleased songs. No word yet on the tracklist for this second disc, but i would assume we'll finally get some nice recordings of stuff like "Never Gonna Marry", "Heaven" and "Dropping Out".

Also - if anyone has any photos they could scan and send me from the guys' non-DGen gigs (Heart Attack, Vasquez, The Blessed, etc.) please let me know.

6/01/99
Not much new info to report at the moment. A lot of people have been e-mailing to ask about the fan club and about getting DGen merchandise. I have no idea what is up with fan club, keep writing I guess. As for t-shirts and such, check the official site as I have heard that they may get all of that stuff up there sometime in the near future. Speaking of merchandise - some nifty little TTD promo items to keep an eye out for - temporary tattoos (the DGen star with the band's logo and the album title) and matchbooks with the TTD cover artwork.

As for the site, I'll be putting up some new pics shortly, as well as a few updates to the discography. Also, this page passed the 10,000 mark for visitors in the past month - considering that we only had about 3,000 or so as of last January 1, this means that traffic has really picked up here in 1999 - thanks everyone. Finally, the Chrome Locust page has been moved to a separate site - http://members.aol.com/chrmlocust.

5/16/99
Those Coney Island High pics should be up shortly. In the meantime, point your browser over to the newest DGen site on the web - Adventures with DGeneration - man, this chick is one serious fan.

5/6/99
If you've heard the rumours, I wish I could say don't believe the hype but...alas, I cannot. On Saturday, April 24, DGeneration played to a packed house at Coney Island High in NYC - and, yes, it may have been the band's last show. From what I understand, nothing is etched permanently in stone, but, for now, it looks like they might be done. No one in the band really offered up a formal explanation that night (and it seemed inappropriate to ask for one at the time) but I'm sure we'll all find out sooner or later. One positive note - the evening's set (during which the band pulled "Working On the Avenue" out of the closet and played "So Messed Up" for the first time) was recorded by a mobile unit for a future live release. I'll keep ya posted on the details. In the meantime, if DGen has, in fact, decided to call it a day, I'd like to say thanks to Jesse, Howie, Danny, Joe, Jim, Rick, Michael and Todd for putting out some great music over the past several years (and even if they do continue on, they deserve to be thanked anyways).

I am not going to dwell on the bad news but let me just say, in response to a number of e-mails we have gotten here, that regardless of the future of the band, this website will continue to remain active. And check back here soon for more new stuff - including pics from the Coney Island High show and yet another contest.

The Prohibition contest is officially over. We got somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 entries. We'll be picking the winners sometime this week.

4/21/99
DGen has just finished up their gig on the Offspring tour and will be celebrating with a hometown show at Coney Island High (15 Saint Mark's Place - NYC) on Saturday, April 24.

Here on the web site, the Discography page has been fully updated with everything through the current album and we've got a couple of pics from the Ft. Myers, FL show up as well.

Finally - does anyone out there have any recordings from the Offspring tour or any video footage from the Kiss tour or last year's European tour with Green Day???

4/9/99
DGeneration is currently out on a two-week, 12-show stint as the opening act on the Offspring tour which kicked off in San Jose, CA on March 30. All the dates and venues are posted on the tour page. Look for DGen to follow this up with some more headline dates in April and May, plus a show at the University of Pennsylvania's Spring Fling on April 16 with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Run-DMC. The band will be ending this road trip with a show at Coney Island High on April 24. Unfortunately, Rick will not be going out on this trip with DGen. Filling the second guitar slot will be Jim Wallerstein (a guitarist from NYC).

Here's the setlist from the show in Sacramento, CA on March 31st (thanx Jordan): Lonely / Scorch / Sweet Talker / Every Mother's Son / She Stands There / Hatred / Rise and Fall / Helpless / No Way Out / Frankie

Other stuff: In case you were unaware, there are a couple of DGen chat / bulletin board things up and running - click here for links and info. Some pics from the recent shows in Philadelphia, PA and Asbury, NJ are now up in the photo gallery. There are also some pics from the recent Chrome Locust show in Baltimore on the Chrome Locust page. In addition, there have been yet more additions to the bootlegs page.

Finally, there are some QuickTime movie files from the March 20 Bowery Ballroom show up on the official site at dgenerates.com - pretty cool, check 'em out.

3/25/99
I heard that DGen tore up the stage down in Ft. Myers, FL on Sunday in front of a crowd of about 20,000 - the largest the band has played to since the Kiss tour in 1996.

3/17/99
I drove up to the show at the Trocadero Balcony in Philadelphia, PA last Saturday and DGen put on a really good show - they did an extremely tight set that lasted just under an hour, opening up with Lonely before tearing into Scorch. Most of the set was comprised of newer material along with Feel Like Suicide, No Way Out and Frankie (the set closer). A lot of people in the crowd were screaming for Capital Offender between songs, but the band never played that one...oh well, maybe next time. Some pictures should be up shortly.

In addition, I found out that Rick is not back in the band for good; he is merely helping the guys out until a permanent replacement for Todd can be found. His band, Vasquez, is still alive and well and he is now working with Sam Yaffa (the bassist from the legendary Hanoi Rocks). Right now, they are pretty much just playing around New York, so keep an eye out. He is also doing this monthly thing called California in NYC as well which sounds pretty cool - he and some other people are spinning tunes and it sounds a lot like the old Green Door parties.

There is a recent interview on-line at Rocklove.com - it can be found here.

The bootlegs page has also been updated with some newly discovered items (new to me, anyways). In addition to the usual tapes, there now exists an unofficial, vinyl copy of the "DGeneration" album (I have had a couple of people write me about this one). There is also a bootleg CD floating around out there called "Drop-Outs".

3/11/99
Jesse Malin and Joey ramone will be on K-ROCK's (NYC) Sunday night show "K-ROCK'S HARD ON" this week, 3/14/99.

There are a whole slew of pictures from the February 27 show at The Saint in Asbury, NJ are up in the photo gallery (courtesy of Mr. Chuck Homler - thanks dude!!!).

In other news, Dgen's wayward sons - Michael Wildwood and Todd Youth are currently out on the road with their new band, Chrome Locust. They kicked off their tour last night down here at Hal Daddy's in Baltimore where they tore the place a new you-know-what. For some more info on this band, as well as tour dates, click here to go to the Chrome Locust page.

3/03/99
The current tour got underway in Connecticut on February 19 with what was, I understand, a rather short and sweet set, and was followed by a sold-out show at New York City's Irving Plaza. And yes, copies of the Prohibition EP will be available at these shows.

Speaking of shows, here is the setlist from the recent show at The Saint in Asbury, NJ (February 27th), a bootleg recording of which has already popped up:

Scorch / Sweet Talker / Every Mother's Son / Helpless / She Stands There / Only a Ghost / Good Ship Down / No Way Out / Rise and Fall / ChinaTown / Lonely / Hatred / Capital Offender / Frankie

Other stuff - someone has taken the time to put up a DGen guitar tabs page, which can be found at www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Underground/5314/index.html.

2/11/99
Ok - I'm going to attempt to answer a few frequently asked questions that I have been getting from everyone recently.....

First of all - Yes the lineup of the band has changed yet again. Michael and Todd have left DGen and will be devoting their musical energies to their Chrome Locust project (with an album due out in March or April, as I understand). Michael's replacement is a guy named Joe Rizzo and Todd has been replaced by The Atomic Elf - Richard Bacchus. For those of you new to DGen - Richard was one of the original members of the band; he left in 1997 and was replaced by Todd Youth (formerly of Murphy's Law). Now Todd has left the band and is being replaced by the guy he replaced - go figure (although I have heard conflicting stories as to Rick's permanance in the line up). Anyways, the dgenerates.com site has a few new pics of the current lineup.

Second, a lot of people have asked about the cover of "Sweet Talker" on the Prohibition EP. It was originally done by a band called Sister Double Happiness. Here is some info about them that I got (indirectly) from Jesse: "Sister Double Happiness were a San Francisco band, led by Gary Floyd, who originally was the lead singer for a very cool Texas punk band called The Dicks. They had a song called "Dicks Hate Police" which was an underground favorite. The song Sweet Talker is off of S.D.H.'s debut LP which came out in 1987. It's a great record if you can find it, it's not on CD. Gary Floyd has a new band called Sister Kalima that plays around S.F. They still do Sweet Talker. The guy has an amazing voice and writes great songs."
Jesse recently brought this guy in to do a show at CIH and I hear that it was pretty good.

2/04/99
For those of you who don't venture out to real record stores these days, I heard that CDNOW.COM is taking advance orders for the new album (CD and cassette - no vinyl).

The "Helpless" single has been released to radio stations - so call up your local stations, bug the hell out of the DJ's and ask them to play it.

The Release Party for Through the Darkness will be held on Tuesday, February 23 at Irving Plaza in New York City. In addition, the band is finally starting to schedule some shows, with a couple lined up in CT and NJ surrounding the release party. Check the shows page for info.

Finally - the DGENERATES.COM website has been updated, and it includes some cool, new band photos

1/15/99
A new section (sort of new, its just been gone for a little while) is the bootleg recordings page. This is a list of every known DGen bootleg audio and video tape floating around out there.

Also, the Discography is going to be moved around in a big way this coming week, so you might find that page to be down at the moment. It should all be put together again within a few days.

12/31/98
As we head into 1999, I just want to thank everyone who has been so supportive of this site over the past year, either through just some nice e-mails, providing info, etc., including Mr. Jesse Malin. (and a special thanks to those who send me the occasional bootleg tape)

Not too much to report, except that a new TV commercial for The Faculty is out that has "Helpless" playing in the background of the spot (kind of cool to see that). Have to admit that I have not seen the movie yet.

Finally, Jesse joined Ronnie Spector and Keith Richards on stage at a recent holiday shindig at Life in NYC to sing "Christmas Baby Please Come Home". Here's a pic of Jesse and Keith and Ramones manager Monte Melnick that night (thanks Mary).

12/20/98
Some general news bits: The soundtrack for the new movie "The Faculty" is now in stores (released 12/15) and contains the track "Helpless" from the forthcoming DGen album. "Helpless" will also be the first single from the new album and will be shipped out to the radio stations in mid January. Finally - Mr. Malin has informed me that the release date for "Through the Darkness" is now set for February 24, 1999.

12/10/98

The Discography section has been partially updated with all of the band's recent releases and compilation appearances up through the new record. This page can now also be viewed as either a text-only document or with all of the album cover scans. I'll probably be shuffling the Discography section around a bit over the next few weeks, so if you find that a link is down or a graphic is missing, just yell at me and let me know.

11/13/98
Ok - first of all let me say I'm sorry about the misinformation about the L.A. show with L7 I announced here last week. What can I say? I post info as I get it from various sources. I am not a close, personal friend of anyone in the band so I have no way to confirm some of the stuff I hear. When it comes to shows, check with the venue or your local entertainment zines before heading out. Speaking of which, look down a few lines and you'll notice that the date and venue of the Chrome Locust show has changed since I first posted it.

Mikey and Todd are currently touring around with a band called Chrome Locust and they will be playing at The Continental on December 5. I don't know any other tour dates for this band, so you'll just have to keep an eye out for them (if anyone knows of any other shows, please drop me an e-mail).

Finally - for some strange reason, about a dozen people recently sent me mail telling me that the NYTRASH web site was down. Uhhh...ok. The people at NYTrash are pretty cool, especially Adam and the lovely Marlena, but hey! I'm not affiliated with them - I appreciate the info - but there's nothing that I can do about it. I do know that it should be up and running again soon (if it isn't already).

10/25/98
Ok - first of all, in response to e-mails I have been getting, let me just say that D Generation is not breaking up. However, the band has decided not to go back out on the road until the album has been officially released and so some of the guys are working on side projects in the meantime. Jesse and Howie are working on a project together, Mikey has been seen drumming for another NYC band lately and Danny is currently hanging out down in Florida.

Currently, there are not even any plans for a few shows around New York in the near future either, so we won't be seeing Jesse do his Nurse Ratchett routine this Halloween. But we will be seeing Jesse up on the big screen very soon - he has a speaking role in the latest Martin Scorcese movie "Bringing Out the Dead". He plays the doorman at CBGB's. There is no word yet as to whether or not DGen will have anything on the film's soundtrack, but the song "Helpless" (from the new album) will be included on the soundtrack for the movie "The Faculty". The film will be out sometime in December and the soundtrack will be on the record shelves December 8.

8/18/98

Wanna Hear Some New Stuff Now?

A compilation disc called "Old Skars and Upstarts" was put out about a month or so ago by Duane Peters of the band U.S. Bombs. This comp contains a new DGen track called "Dying For a Living", which looks like it will not appear on the new album. Other bands included are U.S. Bombs, Rancid, Texas Terri, JFA and The Hormones. The disc is being distributed by Disaster Records and that's all I know (I haven't tracked one down yet). For more info you can contact:

Disaster records
18822 Beach Blvd. #104
Huntington Beach, CA 92648

Anything Else?

Yup. Howie Pyro co-wrote the song "1998" on the latest Rancid album "Life Won't Wait".

And finally - D Generation finally has an official website. Yes, they did have a site maintained by Columbia Records but, as we all know, that site just sucked the big one. The band has got their own - there ain't much there at the moment, but they do have a basic home page up. You can check it out at www.dgenerates.com.

Ok - That's all the news for now. If anyone has anything to add, drop me a line. I'll be back to maintaining this site on a regular basis for the forseeable future. Thanks to VinylVixen and Bran E. Carlos for dropping some of the above news my way.

April 21, 1998: The band is currently in the studio with producer Tony Visconti working on their next album. Word is that it is tentatively slated for a September release with a vinyl "teaser" coming out in mid-summer.

In the next few weeks, the discography page will be going down for a few days so that I can move some files around. I don't know exactly when I'm going to do this - it'll happen whenever I have the time to do it.

March 24, 1998: Thanks to John in New Jersey, here are the set lists for the two C.B.G.B.'s shows, along with some comments:

February 27: Frankie / Sweet Talker / She Stands There / Too Loose / Only A Ghost / Good Ship Down / Rise and Fall / Feel Like Suicide / Every Mother's Son / Lonely / 1981 / No Way Out / Hatred / Prohibition / D-Generated

"The band seemed tired, maybe jetlagged, since they must have gotten back from Europe in the previous 24 hours or so. What they lacked in musical energy, they made up for by Todd smashing his guitar and Jesse dropping his pants."

February 28: No Way Out / Sweet Talker / She Stands There / Too Loose / Only a Ghost / Good Ship Down / Hatred / Rise and Fall / Feel Like Suicide / Sunday's Secret Saints / Lonely / 1981 / ChinaTown / Cornered / Frankie / Every Mother's Son / Prohibition / D-Generated

"This show was a lot more "up" and though very like the previous night's setlist (exept for the addition of China Town and SSS), I thought much more energy evident. No superfluous onstage pranks, just pure music (though the previous band (Toilet Boys) was amusing and just a little scary!)."

I know that at least two of the new songs, "Only a Ghost" and "Prohibition" turned up on the European tour. "Every Mother's Son" and "Sunday's Secret Saints" are new to me - I hadn't heard of either one before, so this weekend might have been the first performance of one or both of them. According to Jesse, "Sunday's Secret Saints" was written by Todd. Strangely enough, Jesse also said one night that "Rise and Fall" was a song they wrote while they were over in Europe (although they were playing it live last summer).

March 18, 1998: In the last few weeks, a few people e-mailed asking if I was still maintaining this site because they hadn't seen any updates for almost a month. So I'd just like to say that, other than the few sections I need to complete, I'll update stuff on the site when there's news to report. If the band isn't doing anything - I don't have much to say here, hence - no news updates.

March 10, 1998: On February 27 and 28, D Gen celebrated their return from their first European tour with a two-night stint at C.B.G.B.'s. They did a one hour set each night and, according to reports, they were looking a bit jet-lagged on the first night. The second night was apparently a tighter show (and featured some sort of taped intro that they hadn't used before). As soon as I hear what the set list was, I'll post it up here for you all. The band plans to be in the studio sometime in the next few weeks to finally begin work on the new album.

Here's a brief advertisement: The latest issue of my magazine, LATENT IMAGE, is now out. For info on the current issue, click here.

February 19, 1998: Finally, some news from the European tour! I heard from a couple of people who saw the DGen's UK dates with Green Day and the sold-out crowds really responded well to the band both nights. They have been doing a 10 song, 35 minute set that has included yet even more new songs.

In addition, a bootleg tape has surfaced of their set at the Astoria Theatre in London on February 1. The set list for the show was as follows:

Frankie / Sweet Talker / She Stands There / Only a Ghost / Rise and Fall / Feel Like Suicide / Cornered / Hatred / Prohibition / Degenerated

Before going in to the last song, Jesse tossed out a few t-shirts to the crowd with the "suicide TV" design (as above) and made the comment: "No, this isn't Curt Cobain...but it might be Bill Clinton". Take that statement for what you will. Strangely, they didn't do "No Way Out", which is probably the one song that the most people would have heard. Oh well. If anyone else out there has seen any of the European shows, drop me an e-mail and let us know how it went.

January 20, 1997
: It has just been announced that, following their European tour, D Generation will do a couple of homecoming shows at CBGB's in New York City on February 27 and 28 (it figures - the same weekend I'm going to be in San Diego). I have also heard that the band may hit the road in the states yet again sometime after that in the Spring. The new album is tentatively scheduled to be out sometime this summer.

I've added a few new graphics to the Discography page. You can now see covers for the "Capital Offender" single and the compilation discs "Loaded Volume 1" (EMI sampler) and "We Will Fall" (the Iggy Pop Tribute). I've also been trying to actually learn something about graphics and I'm in the process of streamlining the Discography page so that it loads a bit quicker.

Finally - I am still looking for a tape of the October 3, 1997 show at Coney Island High (if such a thing exists) or any other recordings that may have the songs "Massacre", "PCP Highway" or "Dying For a Living".

January 7, 1997: First off, let me just pause to wish a Happy New Year to all the DGenerates who have stopped by this page and who have helped me out with it along the way over the past six months since I set it up.

I'd also like to start the new year by thanking ShiraWild for bringing to my attention the existance of a D Generation message board on AOL. Unfortunately, since the message board is hosted on AOL, you can only get to it if you have an AOL account. If not...well then you're just s**t outta luck. On AOL, the quickest way to access iit is to follow the following steps:

1 - Enter Keyword: MMC
2 - Select the folder marked ALTERNATIVE
3 - Select the folder marked ALTERNATIVE BANDS A-F
4 - Scroll down the list until you hit the D Gen folder (between Devo and Dead Can Dance)

January 5, 1997: Last night there was a benefit show of some sort at Coney Island High. One of the performances consisted of Jesse and Danny doing an acoustic set of original (yet unreleased) material. Did anyone happen to tape this??

December 31, 1997: D GENERATION ACROSS THE EUROPEAN NATIONS
Apparently D Gen isn't going back into the studio as soon as we thought. Instead, the band will be heading across the Atlantic for their first European tour, where they will be opening up for Green Day (once again). The tour kicks off on January 20 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and winds up February 25 in Barcelona, Spain. However, D Gen has a penchant for doing headline club gigs later in the night after their opening stints, so keep an eye out for possible appearances.

D Gen is heading over to Europe to open the following shows for Green Day:

January 20 - Belfast , Northern Ireland - Ulster Hall
January 21 - Dublin, Ireland - SFX Centre

December 19, 1997: A new bootleg tape has surfaced of the Halloween show at Coney Island High from a few months back. The quality of this tape is great and has lots of new songs.

The Green Day tour at on the west coast is over and done with. The band is planning to go back into the studio after the holidays to begin work on the next studio album which, hopefully, will be out sometime in the Spring.

November 18, 1997: Just got word from Columbia (they apparently are not completely miffed at the band) that D Gen will be heading out to the west for a few weeks where they will be opening up for Green Day. Places and dates are in the Tour Dates section.

The band then plans to enter the studio soon after this trip to begin work on a new studio album.

November 12, 1997: I finally got around to picking up a copy of the Iggy Pop tribute album "We Will Fall" on which D Gen contributed the track "I Got Nothing" - which is also the last thing that Richard recorded with the band. The liner notes misspelled Jesse's name and Richard is listed as Atomic Elf. I only gave it one quick listen to so far, but I think the band did a pretty decent job, as did most of the bands on here.

I have added a new section to the Discography page called Unauthorized Recordings which contains a list of, and comments about, all of the D Gen bootlegs floating around out there that I am aware of. If anyone knows of any tapes that are not listed here, please let me know. This section is below the section which lists all of the band's official recordings.

I'm still looking for copies of the videos of "She Stands There" and the first album version of "No Way Out" as well as any bootleg videos of shows. Speaking of which, a live video has surfaced of their set opening for Social D in Minneapolis on 12/06/96 - its 30 minutes, but is a bit shaky in parts (I guess the cameraman's last crack hit hadn't worn off completely before the show).

November 3, 1997: I heard several reports from you guys out there regarding the Halloween show at Coney Island High last Friday. Jesse came out dressed up in a white, vinyl nurse's outfit andwhite fishnet stockings (anyone got a picture of this?) and the band knocked out a 50 minute set that went as follows:

Frankie / Sweet Talker / She Stands There / Hatred / Feel Like Suicide / Good Ship Down / No Way Out / Rise and Fall / Lonely / 1981 / Chinatown / Cornered / Degenerated / Kill the Poor

This last song ("Kill the Poor") is a cover of a Dead Kennedys tune. "Good Ship Down" and "Rise and Fall" are brand new song titles to me - I've never heard of either one before. For the record, "Sweet Talker" is the song on the Portchester 6/6/97 bootleg that people have been calling "Baby You're Free".

October 16, 1997:
I want to send out a major thanks once again to John from New Jersey who was able to locate a "Wasted years" 7-inch for me. The artwork is scanned and is now in the discography section.

Several people have been asking me about bootleg tapes of the band. There are about a dozen shows that I am aware of on audio tape. There are also at least 2 videos floating around out there, one from this past year and one from New York in 1993. I will add compiling a list of all of these to my list of things to finish up on the site (like lyrics and the biography section)

October 10, 1997: Several people have sent me an e-mail about the October 3 show at Coney Island High and I for one, am sorry I couldn't make the road trip up for the show. The band played a 70 minute, 18-song set that featured lots of new material. From what I hear, Todd fit in just fine. It was also announced that the D Gen will be doing a Halloween show at CIH along with Todd Youth's former band, Murphy's Law.

A special thanks goes out to John from New Jersey who snagged a copy of the set list off the stage after the show so we can finally put some names to the new tunes. Here's the playlist from the show:

No Way Out
Sweet Talker
She Stands There
Rise and Fall
Hatred
Too Loose
Chinatown
Feel Like Suicide
Lonely
1981
Major
Massacre
Cornered
Frankie
PCP Highway
Working On the Avenue
Dying For a Living
Degenerated

I don't suppose anyone out there recorded this show did they?

October 2, 1997: Just a few minor touch-ups here and there, including some new (working) links on the articles page.

In other news: don't expect the "official" site to come back on-line any time soon. It seems that Jesse made some remarks at their show opening for the Offspring this past summer which irked some of the suits at the record label which may be why the site is shut down.

Also - Does anyone know what the deal is with Vasquez? Are they a new band or have they been around for a while which Rick merely joined?

Finally - Does anyone have a copy of the first "No Way Out" video (the one from the EMI album)? If so, drop me a line as I'd like to get a copy of it.

September 25, 1997: NEW SONG! Well, its not a new album or any new material, but its something - The Iggy Pop tribute album is now in stores and includes D Gen's take on "I Got Nothing".

D Gen have only one more tour date scheduled that I am aware of which is at Coney Island High in NYC on October 3. By the way, there's some new pictures up on the New York Trash D Gen Page of the new lineup with Todd if you wanna check em out.

September 20, 1997: D Gen played their first show with Todd Youth at Connections in Clifton, NJ. The same night, Rick's new band, Vasquez, played at the Continental in NYC. If anyone caught either of these, let me know how it went.

September 19, 1997: RICHARD BACCHUS LEAVES D GENERATION!!!!
I have heard from someone in the industry up in New York that Rick has left the band. I have been unable to get an "official" comment from Columbia or directly from the band, but I have heard that Rick is putting a new band together called Vazquez and that his replacement in D Gen will be Todd Youth from Murphy's Law.

September 18
: Vampire Nation moved to a new site on the web. The counter was up to 267 visitors so far at the time we moved (at which time the counter had to be reset).

August 21: The ARTICLES page is now up and running. A few of these are typed up and on the site (thanks to Andria) and the rest are scattered throughout the web and are linked from this page. I'll add more as soon as I have some more free time.

There's no other D Gen news I'm aware of at this time. I'll keep you poseted (or if you hear anything - let me know).

August 7, 1997: The band has just finished up a handful of scattered dates in the NorthEast. They will be going back out on the road for a full tour sometime in the near future (I'll keep you posted). Although they have been performing new matirial in their shows, there are still no plans as of yet for D Gen to return to the studio in the near future.

A new section has been added to the site entitled RARE TRAX which is a listing of songs that the band has been known to perform live, both originals and covers, which are not currently available on any official releases.

Speaking of unofficial releases, if anyone has any bootleg recordings of D Generation, Heart Attack or any other of the members' former bands - I want them! I'm looking for concerts, radio broadcasts, TV appearances, etc. on either audio or video. I'm also still looking for copies of the 1993 Wasted years 7-inch, the No God / Degenerated 10-inch and the 1995 Flipside compilation with Scorch on it.

The official web site at Sony Music is still unaccessable.

I'd also like to thank everyone who has been writing me to tell me what they think of the site (including the one guy who took the time to e-mail me and tell me how much D Generation sucks). If anyone would like to contribute anything to this site, please let me know.

July 26, 1997:
Two new tour dates added - July 29 in State College, PA and August 1 in Providence, RI.

Also - The official site at Sony appears to be down, even linking to it directly from their own index of artists returns a message that the site cannot be accessed.

A new bootleg tape has surfaced from 7 Willow Street in Portchester, NY (June 6, 1997) which includes 5 unreleased songs: China Town, Never Gonna Marry, No Lunch (?) and two others whose titles are unknown to me (one has a chorus which features the lyric "I'm a dog and I'm a cow"). If anyone can shed any light on these, please let me know. This tape also features a cover of Neil Young's Don't Be Denied. Clocking in at 55 minutes, it's the only bootleg to surface so far, except for the Baltimore, MD 12/29/95 tape, that features a set longer than 35 minutes. It's also one of two tapes going around right now with new D Gen material on it (the other is from Washington, DC on 7/03/97)

I'm still working on the Biography section, which probably won't be up for a few more weeks yet. The lyrics section should be on-line by next week, as well as links to various D Gen articles floating around the web.

July 14, 1997: NEW TOUR DATES - 4 shows in NY, NJ and CT.
Also - a dozen color photos from D Gen's recent gig at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. are now on-line in the photo gallery.

July 7, 1997: On July 3, D Generation finished up a mini-tour opening up for The Misfits. Their 30 minute set list included 3 brand new (or at least as yet unrecorded) songs, one of which, titled CHINA TOWN, features some incredibly cool guitar work by Richard Bacchus.

Columbia has also just released CAPITAL OFFENDER as the third single from the No Lunch album. According to Richard, the band has no immediate plans to record a video for the song but may end up doing so if the single does well.

D Gen also has no immediate plans to be back in the studio to begin work on a new album but they hope to do so before the end of the year. Meanwhile, look for the band back out on the road as a headline act later in the summer.

June 26, 1997: Vampire Nation was established on the World Wide Web.
