Cherry Bombs: TKD6K

The KD6K: Kelley Deal (vocals, guitar)
Todd Mund (guitar)
Marty Nedich (bass)
Todd Johnson (drums)
*in search of a better picture of Todd Johnson.
Kelley "took a break" from The Breeders and decided to do her own music thang. In St. Paul, while on "vacation," Kelley formed a band (initially called Solid State, fyi) The Kelley Deal 6000.
Kelley had been writing and wanted to put out an album. So, she started her own little record label called Nice Records, and put out The Kelley Deal 6000 debut "Go To The Sugar Altar." Now that's a way to do it. hahahaha.

Fascinating Fun Fact: Kelley didn't even know how to play the guitar until she just had the urge to join twin sister Kim's band, The Breeders, back in '92. Prior to that, musically, all she had ever done was play drums in her high school band.
Anyway, Breeders fans have been wondering whether or not Kelley's new band meant that she wouldn't hook up with The Breeders, or any other Kim project for that matter, ever again. Well...I don't know. Don't care. I love The Kelley Deal 6000. but i don't think so.
2/19---The How About Hero page is up!
1/9---It's early '98 and it's great to hear Kelley's working on new material. For those of you who don't obsessively check out the discussion group on Kelley's homepage, I will relay the news. According to Todd, Kelley's been in New York writing and recording. Yay. Also,Todd's going on tour with Sebastian Bach for a month. After that, le European tour. Check below.
~The 2nd album, BOOM BOOM BOOM, is at the record shop right down your street waiting for you to pick it up! Go! It's been out since late August '97. If you don't believe me when I say this album is too cool to describe...words could not express just how good this cd is...e-mail me and I'll send you a video of me doing a happy dance (looks a lot like the Elaine Benice dance) in response to a deep, sexy voice behind the camera chanting "Boom! Boom! Boom!" uh....NO! If you don't believe me, check out the new stuff on Kelley's webpage. You can download clips of a few songs from the album. Go to KelleyDeal.com now! (scroll down)
This picture used to be a link to a cool Allstar article I found on the web. But now I can't find it anymore. Click on it for ANOTHER article from allstar.

Boom Tour 6000---Make that "Euro-tour 6000." February 20th is the kick off date and tkd6k are off to reclaim their territories. Their plan of attack: 5 week strategy. They'll return for their home-coming victory ball in March and continue to celebrate nation-wide either in late April or early May. I'll post show dates when I see them.

Aside from The Kelley Deal 6000, there have been several reports that Kelley recently hooked up with Sebastian Bach of Skid Row and Jimmy Chamberlain (ex-Smashing Pumpkins' drummer) to form The Last Hardmen. They do a cover of Alice Cooper's "School's Out" on the Scream soundtrack...but I don't know what other stuff this "project band" has done or will put out. More info from Allstar--- Allstar Mag: The Last Hardmen
*this has nothing to do with anything but if you're interested in hearing my Alice Cooper story, email me. heehee*
Go to Kelley's site and support the KD6K. A true fan and anyone with some taste would appreciate her fresh, very new sound. The Kelley Deal 6000
