Men's Golf Association

Since the early days of Delaware Country Club, there has always been a very active men's golf program. The Club's founding fathers recognized the importance of the game of golf to the overall success of the Club. In the very beginning a "Tournament and Greens Committee" had the primary responsibility of running the men's annual golf tournaments, the handicapping system, and maintaining the condition of the golf course. This original golf committee, first established nearly 95 years ago, has since evolved into what is now known as the Men's Golf Association. What the founding fathers recognized in the early years, and which still holds true today, is that Delaware Country Club members genuinely share a common interest which is a love for the game of golf. Today, while the primary focus of the Men's Golf Association might be somewhat different than that of the original Tournament and Greens Committee, one thing remains in place and that is to create, promote and maintain programs and activities that result in increased golf usage and overall enjoyment amongst male members of the Club.

Today, the Delaware Country Club Men's Golf Association totals approximately 250 golfing members. The affairs of the Association are managed by a board of directors that meets routinely throughout the year to establish priorities for the coming year. Specifically, the directors focus on activities and events that will ultimately provide for a positive social and recreational golf environment for it members and to provide opportunities for members to engage in various golf competitions. As a new member of Delaware Country Club you will be invited to join the Men's Golf Association. We hope you will, for we feel you will find this to be a very satisfying experience.

Each season the Men's Golf Association sponsors approximately eight to ten primary tournaments from Opening Day in April to Closing Day in late September or early October. As part of the annual golf schedule, the Association conducts various annual championships including one for senior members over the age of 55, and the annual club championship which is open to all members of the Association.
