Easter Egg Surprise (Easter Eggs with Flowers and Lil Animals Inside) NEW!!!!

Sizes: 5", 4", and 3" long.

MATERIALS:
Carrousel Sayelle 1 2.5-oz. ball each brown #517 (A), white (B)

small amounts lavender, pink, lt. green, dk. green, lt.. yellow, dk. yellow, black, orange.

Crochet hooks sizes 3/D and 5/F

Two-part plastic eggs; lg. 2 1/2" dia. x 5" long (or L'Eggs egg); med. 2" dia. x 3" long; sm. 1 1/2" dia. x3" long.

Glue
Fiberfill

GAUGE: 16st=4"; 16 rows = 4".

LARGE EGG:
Narrow Half:
With larger hook and A, ch 2.
Rnd 1; 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join; mark beg of rnd.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around -12 sc.
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc) around 18sc.
Rnd 4: Sc around.
Rnd. 5: (SC in 2sc, 2sc in next sc) around - 24sc.
Rnd 6: ( Sc in 3sc, 2sc in next sc) around - 30sc.
Rnd 7: (Sc in 4sc, 2sc in next sc) around - 30sc.
Rnds 8 -11: SC around. Crochet piece should cover plastic egg half, if it does not, work 1 or 2 more rounds sc. Sl st in first sc. End off.

Wide Half:
With larger hook and A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 8sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around - 16sc.
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc) around - 24sc.
Rnd 4 and 5: Sc around.
Rnd 6: (SC in 2sc, 2sc in next sc) around - 32sc.
Rnds 7 - 9: Sc around. End off. Glue covers to corresponding egg halves.

BASE:
With larger hook and B, ch 14. Sl st in first ch to form ring.
Rnd 1 and 2: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 3: Work 27sc in ring, covering rnds 1 & 2.
Rnd 4: Sl st tbl (through back lp) in first sc, * Ch 3, sk 1 sc, sl st in next sc, repeat from * around. End off, leaving an end for sewing.

Set narrow egg half on top of base close to opening, adjusting position to make egg stand. Sew base to egg, leaving rnd 4 free.

ICING:
With larger hook and B, * ch 4, 4dc in 3rd ch from hook, remove hook, insert hook top of ch -4, then through last dc lp, yo and pull through 2 lps on hook-popcorn made, repeat from * 8 times for wide egg half. End off, leaving an end for sewing. Make another piece 7 popcorns long for narrow half. Sew icing to corresponding egg halves (Half-way up, length-wise).

MEDIUM CHOCOLATE EGG:

Narrow Half:
With larger hook and A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 5sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join, mark beg. of round.
Rnd 2: 2sc in each sc around - 10 sc.
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc) around 15sc.
Rnds 4 and 6: Sc around.
Rnd 5:(Sc in 2sc, 2sc in next sc) around - 20sc.
Rnd 7: (sc in 3sc, 3sc in next sc) around - 25sc.
Rnds 8 - 10: Sc around.

Finish same as large egg.
Wide Half:
Work rnds 1 - 5 for narrow half of large egg.
Rnds 6 - 8: Sc around. Sl st in first sc. End off.

Base:
With larger hook and B, ch 10. Sl in first ch to form ring.
Rnds 1 and 2: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 3: Work 19 sc in ring, covering rnds. 1 and 2,
Rnd 4: Work same as large egg.
Finish same as large egg.

ICING:
Work same as large egg, making pieces to fit around egg halves (about 6-popcorns long for wide half, 8 for narrow half).

SMALL EGG:
Narrow Half:
Work rnds 1-3 for narrow half of med. egg.
Rnds 4 and 5: Sc around.
Rnd 6: (Sc in 2sc, 2sc in next sc) around - 20sc.
Rnds 7 and 8: Sc around.

Wide Half:
Work rnds 1-6 for narrow half of med. egg.
Rnd 7: Sc around. Finish same as large egg.

Base:
With larger hook and B, ch 8. Sl st in first ch to form ring.
Rnds 1 and 2: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 3: Work 15sc in ring.
Rnd 4: Work same as large egg.
Finish same as large egg.

ICING:
Work as for large egg, working hdc instead of dc. Make pieces fit around egg halves
(about 7 popcorns long for wide half, 8 popcorns long for narrow half).

LARGE ROSE:
With smaller hook, ch 16. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, 2 hdc in next ch,(sl st in next ch, ch 1, 3 hdc in next ch) 3 times, (sl st in next ch, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1) 3 times, sl st in last ch. End off, leaving an end for sewing. roll crochet piece into a rose, tack at bottom.

SMALL ROSE:
With smaller hook, ch 14. Sl st in 2nd st from hook, ch 1, 2 hdc in next ch, (sl st in next ch, ch 1, 3 hdc in next ch) twice, (sl st in next ch, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1) 3 times.
Finish same as large rose.

ROSEBUD:
With smaller hook, ch 4. Work 5 dc in first ch, sl st in last ch. End off, leaving an end. Fold bud in half and tack ends tog.

LEAVES:
With smaller hook, ch 4. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, End off.

SMALL FLOWERS:
With smaller hook, ch 3,sl st in 2nd ch from hook, (ch 2, sl st) 5 times in next ch. End off.

JONQUILS:
Beg at center, with smaller hook and dk. yellow, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 5sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: Sc tbl in each sc around.
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc) twice, sl st in last sc. End off.
Rnd 4: Working along front lps of rnd 2, join dk. yellow, ch 1 (hdc, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch, ch 1, (hdc, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch, ch 1, sl st) in each st around - 5 petals. End off.

Make flowers and leaves as desired and in desired colors. Sew to top of eggs in cluster.

CHICK: Body:
With smaller hook and lt. yellow, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 4 sc tbl in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: 2sc tbl in each sc around - 8sc.
Rnds 3 and 4: Sc tbl in each sc around.
Rnd 5: (Sc tbl in next sc, 2 sc tbl in next sc) around - 12sc.
Rnds 6 and 7: Sc tbl around. Stuff chick.
Rnd 8: (Sk next sc, sl st in next sc) around. End off.

Feet:
Turn body upside down. With orange, working along opposite end of beg ch-2, (sl st, sc, sl st) in each of 2 ch. End off.

Wings:
With yellow, (sl st, dc, sl st) on each opposite end of body. End off.

Tail:
With yellow, (sl st, sc, sl st) in lp at back of chick. End off. Embroider two black eyes, with french knots, one orange beak with a loose st.

HAT:
With smaller hook and white, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 2 sc in each sc - 4sc.
Rnd 2: Sc tbl in each sc.
Rnd 3: (Sl st, ch 3, sl st) in each sc. End off, leaving an end for sewing.. Sew
to top of chick

BUNNY: Body:
With smaller hook and white, work rnds 1- 6 of chick.
Rnd 7: (Sc tbl in next sc, 2 sc tbl in next sc) around - 16 sc.
Rnd 8: Sc tbl in each sc around. Stuff bunny.
Rnd 9: (Sk next st, sl st in next st) around. End off.

Ears: (make two):
Sl st in lp near top of head. Turn; work 2 sc in sl st, ch 1, turn; sc in 2 sc, ch 1, turn; sk 1 sc, sc in next sc; ch 1, turn; sl st in sc, ch 1. End off.

FRONT PAWS: (Sl st, hdc, sl st) in lp below head, sl st in next lp, (Sl st, hdc, sl st) in next lp. End off.

BOTTOM PAWS: (Sl st, dc, sl st) in lp at base of bunny, sl st in next lp, (sl st, dc, sl st) in next lp. End off.

TAIL: (Sl st, ch 3, sl st) in lp at back of bunny.

Embroider two black eyes, one pink nose with french knots.

HAT: Ch 2.
Rnd 1: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: Working through back lps, sl st in first 2 sc, ch 4, sk 1 sc, sc in next sc, sl st in next sc, ch 4, sk 1 sc, sl st in next 2sc.
Rnd 3: Working through back lps, sl st in first st, (hdc, sl st) in each st around. End off. Pull ears through ch-4 sps on hat. Sew in place.

RND 1: (wrong side): work beg cl as follows: ch 3 (yo, insert hook in ring and pull up lp, yo and draw through 2 lps on hook) 4 times, yo and draw through all 5 lps on hook, ch 1 tightly to close ch 1, work cl as folls: (yo, insert hook in ring and pull up lp, yo and draw through 2 lps on hook) 5 times, yo and draw through all 6 lps on hook, ch 1 tightly to close, ch 1 (cl in ring, ch 1) 3 times, join with sl st to first st.
