Bewitched

"Bewitched", the show about everyone's favoriteTV witch, is one of the most highly requested Nick at Nite shows ever. Whenthe end of the summer came, and viewers were still asking for Bewitched,Nick at Nite once again renewed it's contract. Bewitched is also the onlyNick at Nite show they have canceled, and then put on again. The first Bewitched run ran on Nick at Nite from 1989-1992. Since then, I Dream of Jeanniehas been canceled, and Bewitched has been pushed back to the 12:30 am eastern time slot, but with the color episodes on the way, Bewitched is sure to get the ratings again!

THE CHARACTERS AND ACTORS

Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stevens:
Elizabeth Mongomery was born in California in 1933. Both of her parents were both in acting. Elizabeth Montgomery's first appearence on television was on her own father's show, "Robert Montgomery Presents" in 1951.  Elizabeth Montgomery's first husband was Gig Young. Her second husband she met on the Bewitched set. William Asher was the producer/ director of the show. When she had Tabatha in 1965 on Bewitched, Elizabeth Montgomery was actually pregnant. Bewitched ran from 1964-1972, and it has been shown in reruns since. After the show's end, Montgomery played in more dramatic rolls, including her final role in "Deadline for Murder" in 1995. Sadly, she died of cancer in May of 1995.
Dick York as Darrin Stevens (1964-1969): Dick York played the original, and often the favorite Darrin Stevens, from the first season (1964-65), to the fourth season. (1968-69). Dick York was born in 1928 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He appeared in many television shows from the beginning of TV, including, "American Boy". Dick York married his wife, Joan, in 1952. They had five children. Dick York was cast as the original Darrin in 1964. He began having back troubles in 1968 and often was too sick to act in the episodes. (There are many "Darrin-less" episodes in the 68-69 season). The executives
decided that Dick York needed to be replaced, so Dick Sargent took over for the remaining of the series. (1969-1972). Some Bewitched fans may have thought that the original Darrin passed away in 1969 when he was replaced, but Dick York actually passed away in 1992, due to emphysema.
Agnes Moorehead as Endora: Agnes Moorehead was born in Massachusetts in 1906. Agnes Moorhead tried to get into Broadway, but the Depression made that tough, so she moved to radio. Some of her film credits include, "The Magnificent Ambersons" and  "Johnny Belinda". Her best known role, however, was the annoying Mother-In-Law Endora on Bewitched. She died shortly after the ending of Bewitched in 1974.;
