West Virginia.

4. Casto Cousins with Allied Families by Eileen S. Vickers
Written in 1983 a good place to start if you have no idea where to go. Written before the days of internet research and therefore has errors
that will hopefully be corrected in a future updated version
5. Casto Story and Collections 1985 by Ina Hunt Tuft
This collection is mostly confined to proven descendents of William Casto 1717 and his 12 children.
6. History of Monroe County West Virginia
Compiled by the Monroe County Historical Society in 1998
7. History of Summers County, West Virginia, Part one and Part two by James H Miller
First settlers, families, Pioneers, etc of Summers County.
8. The Staats Family by Harold Staats

New book, first printing July 2000. Many pictures of West Virginia troops and civil war scenes. I can look up to see if the troop your ancestor fought in is featured.
11. History of Putnam County West Virginia Volume 1 by William D. Wintz
Chronological history of the county. With early settlers, explorers, etc.
12. Greenbrier County (West) Virginia, Publick Claims
Claims were registered for people who nursed the sick and wounded, fed the
troops, furnished supplies, buried the dead, rode express, and manufactured
firearms. This index to the Public Claims is particularly valuable,
therefore, because it contains names of patriots whose services are recorded
in no other place unless they rendered military as well as non-military
service.
