THIS IS AN 1820-1830 U.S. MILITIA SWARD BELT PLATE,
STAR OF STAR DESIGN. IT HAS BEEN JUDGED ON THE
RARITY SCALE OF 8 OUT OF 10, MEANING THERE ARE
PROBABLY LESS THAN 24 KNOWN TO EXIST!
FOUND BY BOB GREEN IN ANDOVER CONN.

Ok, I'm excited. I have been to an old home site in the woods I know of many times. There are always signs of other detectors being there recently, it has been hunted to death! The only thing I ever found there was a 1955 wheat.
For some time, there has been a rumor there is going to be a grade school built there, and it will all be under blacktop.
On my way home Friday night, I swung by. There were trucks and equipment there. I stopped and talked to the crew forman. He told me they had just brush hogged the entire center of the woods around the old foundation which was grown up with briars to your armpits. He said Saturday morning would be a good time to check it, because Monday they are starting to clear-cut the woods, then bulldoze it all. I asked if I could go in for just a few minutes tonight, then come back tomorrow. He said that would be fine. I only had about a half hour before I had to head for home, but in the first 5 minutes I found an 1883 indian head which was in the area which could not be gotten to before it was mowed down. I will be up at 6:00 tomorrow morning! I will let you know how it went.
