Statement of Purpose

Origin: The name Deliver is taken from John 8:32. The greek word for the word make in this verse is the word eleutheroo. It literally means "to liberate." (thus assuming that there is a bondage that we need to be liberated from). This word can be translated "deliver, or make free." Outside of Christ, we are in bondage to sin (John 8:34), but the truth can make us free (John 8:32). John 17:17 tells us that the Word of God (the Bible) is truth, and John 14:26 tells us that Jesus (the Living Word) is truth. When Christ sets us free, we are free indeed (John 8:36)! This ministry was created to show the homosexual from the Scriptures how they can be delivered from the bondage of homosexuality. John chapter 8 shall be the Scripture passage on which this ministry is based. John 8:32 shall be the key verse of this ministry.

The purpose of Deliver Ministries shall be four-fold:

1. We believe in the Great Commission. Acts 1:8 states that we shall have power to witness through the Holy Ghost. Romans 10:14 asks, "How shall they hear without a preacher?" We believe that we have been sent as ambassadors of Christ to a lost world. Our command is to reach the lost, and our burden is for the gay community. Our ministry shall seek opportunities to evangelize the gay community.

2. We believe as Jesus stated in John 8:34 that anyone who commits a sin is a servant of sin. However, the truth shall set us free from sin (vrs.32). We also believe in the sufficiency of the Scriptures based on II Peter 1:3. We shall offer a discipleship program for homosexuals. They shall be discipled through nouthetic counseling. Those in this program shall be encouraged to attend a Biblically sound church. They shall also be encouraged to maintain daily Christian disciplines such as Scripture reading, Scripture memorization, prayer time, and Christian outreach.

3. We believe that we have been commanded to bear one another's burdens as stated in Galations 6:2. We shall therefore offer support to family members and friends of homosexuals. We shall provide them with information helpful to understanding homosexuality. We shall encourage the family and friends of the homosexual to love and accept their loved one, without condoning the homosexual actions.

4. We believe based on II Timothy 2:24-26 and Galations 6:1, that the church is not to condemn sinners, but to reach out and restore them. We shall seek to educate the body of Christ concerning homosexuality. We shall seek to teach the church how to reach out to homosexuals based on the example of Christ found in John 8:1-11.
