What is a DIVCO you ask? Trucks built by the Detroit Industrial Vehicle Company and its successors, were once as much a part of the American way of life as baseball and mom's apple pie. There's a good chance your milkman drove a DIVCO. So did the laundryman, the baker, and even the paper boy's route man.
Built from 1925 through 1986, Divco delivery trucks were once as much a part of American life as mom's apple pie and sand-lot baseball games. Early every morning the milkman brought country fresh dairy products to the door: milk, cream for your coffee, and ice cream as well. The truck that replaced his old horse was probably a Divco. Chances are the laundryman, the breadman and maybe even the paperboy's routeman also drove a Divco. They were the quintessential icon of door-to-door delivery services in the 20th Century.
