SLIDE-LECTURES   "The Icon - Sacred Image"
The lectures examine the history, tradition and spirituality of the icon as sacred image, founded on the doctrine of the Incarnation. They also address, in light of the Byzantine tradition, the use of icons in public liturgies and private devotions.

The 6 hours of lecture may be offered as 6 - 1 hour presentations, 4 - 1.5 hour presentations, or 2 - 3 hour presentations. Any number of people may attend the lectures. The only requirements are an adequate space that can be darkened for slide presentations, a digital projector and screen, and a chalk/marker board.

PAINTING CLASSES   "Introduction to Icon Painting"
A maximum of 15 students will be instructed and aided in the painting (writing) of an icon. These classes may also be arranged, regarding the needs of the parish, over a one or two week period. Approximately 24 hours of painting instruction will be made available. No previous artistic experience is necessary, only a desire to encounter the Creator God in the exercise of the ancient, sacred craft of iconography. Requirements: A room with good lighting, sink/water, sturdy tables and chairs that will comfortably seat those attending, adequate security for the icons under construction and equipment.

COST
The cost of the painting class is: 5-9 students $450/student, 10-15 students $395/student. A minimum of 5 students must be guaranteed. The maximum number of painting students is 15. When the minimum number of painting students is reached, there is no additional charge for the slide-lectures, which can be opened to any number of people, at the discretion of those organizing the event. The cost includes all necessary materials: icon board, brushes, paints, gold leaf. Materials are supplied as the instruction anticipates a uniformity of media and instruments.

The cost of the slide-lectures alone, without the painting class (see above), is $1200.
