Short retreats include an introduction to the Holy Tradition Of
Icons, and the Icon As Spiritual Guide. Longer retreats may emphasize
praying with the traditional festive (feast day) icons. Those
making the retreat will be instructed in the tradition and conventional
use of icons in personal devotion, and a retreat may include elements
of the Byzantine tradition of hesychast (silent
prayer) practice, and the Latin convention of Contemplative (Centering)
Prayer.
The possibility of individual conferences depends on the length
of the retreat and the number of retreatants. Individual confessions
(for Roman Catholics) will be available to those making the retreat,
as time permits.
As suitable, each day will include a Mass or worship service appropriate
to the festive icon used that day.
