Nancy works as the executive director of a mental health & retardation
facility, is the farm shephardess, gardens, and spins (B.A.,
Bridgewater College, 1975; Ed. S., J.M.U.). Nancy grew up in Rockbridge County,
Va., then moved to Roanoke County, Va. She is a Mayflower descendant.

Harv works as a high school special education teacher, gardens, and
bakes bread. B.A. English (Madison College, 1974), (M.A, English, J.M.U.;
M.Ed., Special Education, J.M.U.1997). He grew up in Petersburg, VA., except
for 2 years (1964-66) when he lived in Anchorage, Alaska)

, We named our farm Brot Und Rosen, German for Bread and Roses, based on
a poem attached to one of our wedding gifts: If a man has but two coins,
He should take one and buy bread, That he might live, And with the other
buy a rose, That he might have a reaon to live.
